The Department of Defense has created an official team to investigate these phenomena in the wake of June’s inexplicable Pentagon Report.
The announcement, made late Tuesday, will see the establishment of the Airborne Object Identification and Management Synchronization Group (AOIMSG), succeeding the U.S. Navy’s Unidentified Aerial Phenomena Task Force; it will be part of the office of Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security.
According to a DoD press release the AOIMSG is expected to work with the Department of Defense, as well the U.S. Government, ‘to detect and identify and attribute objects of interest within Special Use Airspace’ and ‘to assess and mitigate all associated threats to flight safety and national security.
The move to formally establish the office was made the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence & Security Ronald S. Moultrie, who was directed by Deputy Secretary of Defense Kathleen Hicks and Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines.
The May 2018 video showed an UFO buzzing the US stealth vessel near San Diego. It then dived below the surface back in July 2019.

“Incursions of any airborne object into our SUA pose safety-of-flight and operations security concerns, but may pose national security problems,” the release said.
‘DOD takes reports of incursions – by any airborne object, identified or unidentified – very seriously, and investigates each one.’
According to the DoD, more information about who will become the director for the AOIMSG as well as details regarding the office’s operations will be released in the upcoming weeks.
In September, DailyMail.com reported that the U.S. government was looking into creating a permanent office to study ‘unidentified aerial phenomenon’ (UAPs).

Haines’ comments earlier this month appeared to not rule out an intelligent civilization other than this Earth.
‘There’s always the question of “is there something else that we simply do not understand, that might come extraterrestrially?”‘ Haines, responding to questions about The Hill’s Pentagon report, said:
According to NextGov who first reported this news, the provision in the House of Representatives’ 2022 National Defense Authorization Act included a provision for the creation of a permanent Office under Secretary of Defense.
Rep. Ruben Galego included a 5-page section from the 1,362-page report. It aims to do the same thing that the Unidentified Air Phenomenon Task force did with their report and make it permanent.
There would also be the following duties in the new office:
- The Department of Defense is working to develop procedures that synchronize and standardize reporting and analysis of unidentified aerial phenomena.
- Implementing processes and procedures for reporting incidents in each military branch. These will be incorporated into a single repository.
- In order to ensure that such incidents are reported promptly and consistently, it is important to establish procedures.
- Evaluation of links between adversarial foreign government, foreign governments, and non-state actors.
- Assessing the danger that these incidents pose to the United States.
- As needed, coordination with other Federal agencies and departments.
- As appropriate, coordinate with partners and allies of the United States to improve our understanding of the extent and nature of unidentified air phenomena.
A section of the law proposes that UAP offices deliver to Congress a report every year over the next five years. They will even update Congress on current efforts on the ground to identify and capture unidentified air phenomena.
Late September Night, the legislation passed by a vote of 316 to 113.
The Senate Armed Services Committee’s version of the act, however, does not include a permanent office for the investigation of UAPs.
In June, the Pentagon released its report on the subject of UAPs, however it offered no explanation for 143 of the 144 observations dating back to 2004.

In July, NASA Administrator and former astronaut Bill Nelson said it’s likely that humans will get some kind of indication that intelligent life outside of our own exists in the universe.
“If there is a universe of 13.5 billion years, it must be so vast. Is there any chance that another sun or another planet could have an atmosphere similar to ours?” Nelson spoke at that time.
“I would answer yes. I believe we will get an indication of intelligent life.”
He also said NASA was involved in the search for life for years, and referred to NASA’s Astrobiology programs.
Nelson said, “We are looking for life in Mars, and on other planets in cosmos. We want to identify other suns with planets that possess a habitable environment.”
Barack Obama, the former president, stated in June that another civilization could exist in space beyond ours and it would upend all aspects of human life.
‘And so I would hope that the knowledge that there were aliens out there would solidify people’s sense that what we have in common is a little more important,’ Obama said in response to a hypothetical question that humanity has become aware of intelligent life beyond this planet, but is unable to get in touch with them.
The 44th President stated, “But, no doubt, there would be immediate argument about like, so, we have to spend a lot less money on weapons systems for ourselves to defend ourselves,”
“New religions will emerge.” Who knows the kind of arguments that we will get into. We’re good at manufacturing arguments for each other.’
More than two-fifths of Americans said in August that they believed that UFOs are alien space craft, up from 33 percent in 2019.
A similar survey, published in July, said two-thirds of all Americans believe extraterrestrial life exists, but almost 90 percent believe they are not a threat.
One of these videos was taken off Jacksonville (Florida) in 2015.
Another video is of the 2004 “Tic Tac” incident, which was captured over the Pacific Ocean.
Declassified report dated June 25, which was from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), stated that there were not enough data available to identify the origin of the mysterious flying objects.
The report states that observers observed unusual UAP flight patterns and UAP movements in 18 of 21 incidents.
The UAP may appear to move in a steady wind direction, move quickly against the wind, and/or remain stationary. A few UAP sightings were detected by military aircraft systems that processed the radio frequency energy (RF) associated with them.
“The UAPTF only has limited data, which may indicate UAP’s acceleration or signature management. Multi-disciplinary teams of experts or small groups of technical professionals will have to perform additional rigorous analysis to confirm the data’s validity.
“We’re continuing to analyse the results in an effort to find out if there were breakthrough technologies.”
Unidentified aerial phenomena has replaced the term UFO in recent years, particularly after three U.S. Pentagon videos were declassified in April 2020.
