A Tennessee man was left naked and helpless after his family bought him a pair of dissolvable swim trunks that disintegrated while he was in the ocean — but the viral prank has left many viewers shaking their heads.
Dara Roberts shared with her brother Seth the story of how she purchased the swimsuit from Goodwill and that he accepted it.
Seth was playing with a football in the sea, but he noticed something wasn’t right when the trunks began to melt in the water.
The Roberts family clearly found the whole thing hilarious — but many TikTok viewers think otherwise, and are calling the prank ‘messed up,’ ‘humiliating,’ and ‘cruel.’

Dara uploaded the video to YouTube on November 29 and wrote: “We bought my brother dissolvable trunks for our family’s beach trip.”
The trunks are inside, and Seth can be seen with them. The trunks are intact and dry. He appears unaware that it is a trick.
Dara continued, “Told Dara that I had found them at Goodwill.
Seth, along with three others men, were quickly outside on the sand and racing into the water.
The two spent time throwing a football about, and Dara caught Seth staring down in dismay.
It appears that he has realized something is amiss and is reaching for the shorts under water.
He said that his swimming trunks were ruined.

Dara assured viewers later in comments that Seth did indeed get another pair of swim trunks but that they had to let him worry for as long as possible.
This family seems to find the pranks hilarious and they have captured the attention 28.6 millions viewers of TikTok.
However, commentators aren’t able to see the humor.

Many people pointed out how it was especially bad that it was situated in a public area.

Some commentators called it a prank, while others called it ‘cruel, humiliating, and embarrassing,’ especially because the joke was out in public.
Dara responded to the commenters and said that her brother laughed at the joke.
