Amazon’s smart assistant Alexa appears to have crashed across Europe this morning — leaving some frustrated users unable to turn off their alarms.
Down Detector monitors these issues and reports that there were more than 8,000 reported problems.
Around 07:00 GMT, today, issues first surfaced.
Users are being either met with silence when they speak to Alexa devices or receive messages that’something is wrong.’

It appears the issue is affecting Amazon’s range of Echo speakers as well as the retail giant’s Fire TV Stick and Amazon Alexa app for smartphones.
There have been complaints from people across the UK about these problems. However, there have also been reports of customers in Germany or Italy being affected.
Alexa owners furious have used social media to voice their dissatisfaction.
Tony Sibley posted: “Trying find my lights switches this morning. #AlexaDown’.
Chloe Hardman wrote that Alexa was down but wouldn’t let us turn off our alarm.
Some users claim that their Echo Dot does not work properly after hard reset.
