Andrew McDiarmid, 64, who served for 30 years with Merseyside Police, was discovered with severe accidents on the property in Heswall, Wirral, on Monday, based on his former pressure.

‘He retired as a detective inspector in intelligence in 2008. Our ideas and condolences are with Andy’s household at this tragic time.’ 

One neighbour, chatting with the Liverpool Echo, described Mr McDiarmid as a ‘good man’ who had retired from his job ‘fairly not too long ago.’   

The neigbhour added: ‘They (the household) had been very quiet and have lived there for 10 years. It is come as an absolute bolt from the blue. 

‘It is utterly surprising and I am struggling to grasp what’s occurred.’

Police stated the investigation remained ongoing and in depth CCTV, house-to-house and forensic inquiries had been being carried out.
