It’s not all bad! Anthea Turner, 61 years old, is glowing after receiving collagen supplements for her DOG.

  • Miss Turner claims that Miss Turner joked with the vet about the possibility of collagen pills being good for her.
  • She took her puppies to Noel Fitzpatrick, now better known as TV’s Supervet
  • Collagen, a protein that helps maintain healthy skin and joints, is responsible for maintaining skin elasticity.

Botox and cosmetic surgeries are a passion of Turner. Anthea Turner, 61 years old has now revealed an unconventional way to keep your youthful appearance.

It is all because she took a medication prescribed to one of her dogs.

Miss Turner said that the vet laughed at Miss Turner’s joke and suggested the collagen tablets would also be beneficial for her. While many might laugh at her comment, Miss Turner took the statement literally.

The pain of puppy love

Because of their playful nature, raising and training puppies isn’t easy.

However, a survey revealed 17% of dog-owners found the task more challenging than having to raise a baby. More than four in ten ‘struggled’ to look after their pet as a puppy, it said.

Owners estimated their dog had done damage worth £435 to their homes and belongings.

In the survey of 2,000, 30 per cent think the first two years are the hardest and 23 per cent had ‘no idea’ how much work went into training a puppy.

Toilet training, not chewing furniture and listening to demands such as ‘sit’ were among the hardest things to teach.

Owners spend an average of 21 hours a month on initial training – 43 minutes a day, said the study by pet insurance company Bought By Many. From 2019 to 2020, the firm saw an 87% increase in pet behavioral issues.

Insurance claims were most common for labradors, cockerpoos and colies.

The former Blue Peter presenter told Platinum magazine how in 1999 she took her puppies Digger and Buddie to Noel Fitzpatrick, now better known as TV’s Supervet.

‘When my golden retrievers were pups my vet, Noel Fitzpatrick – then a jobbing vet – detected in one of them a little bit of hip displacement,’ she said.

‘He recommended glucosamine and chondroitin to stop them getting hip dysplasia and arthritis.

‘Then he jokingly said I should be taking collagen too because, as we age, it’s something we lose from our faces as well as our joints.

‘So I began taking the same collagen tablets as the dog.’

Miss Turner was 39 years old at the time, and she presented the holiday program Wish You Were Here. She has now switched to a powdered supplement for dogs.

Collagen is an important protein for healthy joints, skin flexibility and joint health. Collagen is less easily replaceable as it becomes more degraded with time.

Of the benefits she felt from taking the supplement, Miss Turner said: ‘It’s not just about what it does to your skin and hair. It’s only now that I realise I never ache. I was definitely ahead of the curve thanks to Digger, Buddie and Noel Fitzpatrick.’

The actress posed with the dogs in 2008 for a Celebrity Pets Calendar and she has tweeted many times about the heartbreak that she felt over the years.

Miss Turner has been married twice, to Radio 1 DJ Peter Powell and then to businessman Grant Bovey – the couple famously used their 2000 wedding to plug a chocolate bar.

Seit 2019 she lives with Mark Armstrong.

Miss Turner spoke out last month to Lorraine Kelly, a TV host about plastic surgery. ‘I’ve had the boobies done and I swear by Botox. I still can frown. I haven’t looked really angry since I was 40 and my goodness, you know me, I’ve been angry. I can still laugh!’
