Kortney Haus, Aston Villa’s defender breaks his silence about his horrific 2018 Boxing Day robbery and kidnapping attempt by five thugs after following him from London to his home.

Kortney Haus, Aston Villa’s defender has described the terrifying incident in which a group robbed and kidnapped him following a shopping day in London. 

In the second half of documentary, 26-year old Hause speaks out on 2018’s harrowing incident. PowerHause Journey with KortneyIt was revealed that one of them had smashed a bottle of wine over his head in the episode. 

Former England U21 international player was currently playing for Wolves. However, Nuno Espirito Sante’s team for Fulham’s Boxing Day match at Fulham had not included him, so he decided to go to Essex for Christmas.

The next day, he was accompanied by a friend to Oxford Circus. The criminals followed him on the 40-minute journey home in an attempt to capture him. 

“I’ve just walked up to my front door and my boy pulled off and my car… tinted pulled up, and then stopped. It opened all the doors except the driver’s, so five people jumped out and it was a prank.

I remember that there was a tall man and all the others were about average height. But the tall guy said, “Grab him, grab he, grab him!”

Hause was hit with a glass bottle and one of the thugs said "grab him, grab him, grab him"

Hause was hit with the glass bottle, and one of them said to him “grab him. Grab him.

Hause was able temporarily to evade the gang until the taller member assaulted him using a glass bottles, leaving a horrible gash on the top of his head.   

“He pulled his arm back. I thought he was going to punch me, but then he said, “It must have been bottle, because it smashed. That is how I got my scar.” I was literally punched by him with a bottle to get that scar.

Hause says that the gang had jumped on him, but he was able to run towards a hospital nearby. 

The Villa Defender was chased by the gang and met again outside Accident and Emergency. Hause explained how he believed his attackers had guns.

“I cannot even see through this window. It’s like having a nightmare. It is just black, it’s not. 

I’m wondering “Who is that?” No lie. I’m sorry, it sounds crazy but I believed the window would come down on me and they were going after me. They were going to shoot me with a gun. They were going after me so fast. “You must have me killed.”

The sound of an ambulance near him scared them off temporarily. This gave Hause the opportunity to seek help from a paramedic. However, he was refused assistance and ran into the A&E department.

After waiting for 15 minutes, Hause was seen and taken into safe hands. 

After the incident, the 26-year old joined Villa on loan. He was then signed for good in 2019 following Villa’s promotion into the Premier League.

Steven Gerrard has yet to make Hause a regular player, although Villa won the 1-0 win at Old Trafford against Manchester United in September.
