The incredible scene in which an impala lamb is hunted, captured and stolen by a Python.

Mike Sutherland (34) captured the footage while on private game drives in Mombo Camp and Okavango Delta (Botswana) during which he was a founder of Escape Safari Co.

The python spots the impala and lunges to grab it.

This footage captures an impala lamb lying on its back, as the python grabs her.

The impala lamb is then surrounded by the hyena, which clamps its jaws tightly around it.

The impala lamb is grabbed by the Hyena, who then carries both animals into its mouth.

To avoid the exact same fate as the impala lamb, the python moves slowly.

Mr Sutherland told LatestSightings.com:  ‘We were on a morning game drive during the time of year when many animals like warthogs, impala and wildebeest have babies. While driving around, we saw many baby impala. Some were just days old. Others only hours. “The bush was alive!”

The impala were spotted at the edges of the dry floodplain, with a group of hyenas walking off to the side.

“An elusive python had crawled down from the Bushwillow tree, and concealed itself amongst the leaf litter. The snake was caught by a young, unlucky lamb who hopped right up to it.

“We heard the distressing bleating of the lamb and turned quickly in that direction to check what was happening. The hyena then did the same.

He claimed that all of the players were shocked at what was going on.

While the drama unfolded, the mother impala watched and commented that it was a rare sighting. He said that this was something he hadn’t seen during his twelve years of leading across Africa.

Sutherland said that it was important not to interfere with the natural order and, although it might be difficult to see the event from our perspective, it would have been the same regardless of whether or not we were present.
