Petra and Tamara Ecclestone hit the beach in Mexico, as millions of Britons axed their festive plans so they can see family for Christmas after Omicron hospitalisations hit a record high on Wednesday. 

Petra was a multi-billionaire and looked happy as ever while working out at Los Cabos’ resort. 

The heiress, 32, who previously defended travelling to seven countries in lockdown to ‘escape coronavirus’, showcased her incredible figure in the two-piece as she exercised in front of her sunbathing sister Tamara, 37 .

Tamara was ready to welcome the holiday season after having already traveled to Dubai, the Bahamas and Maldives, among others, in the last year. 

The Formula 1 heiress was dressed in light-washed ripped jeans and a plunging, ribbed green swimsuit. She watched her sister do a series with a resistance band. 

Petra was toned after she had a girl, and did several squats.

Their father Bernie supported their daughters’ decision to travel to Mexico after he was locked out of the rest of the world. 

Jay and Tamara were to have been to seven countries by the time of the lockdown. They had gone to Switzerland, Croatia, Switzerland and The U.K. The Maldives as well as the USA. Bernie, however, claimed that she and Jay did this because her home in Gstaad Switzerland was too cold. 

A billionaire F1 boss, Tamara said that neither she nor her sister Petra violated anti-Covid laws when they traveled to foreign countries. She had good reason to believe so.

Petra, meanwhile, travelled with her fiancé Sam Palmer, 37, and four children from London to Croatia to LA, then Switzerland, Monaco and France, then back to LA, Monaco, and The Maldives before travelling back to Monaco since March last year.

Speaking to MailOnline, Bernie, said in June: ‘They have been travelling around a lot but they’ve 100 per cent broken no laws by doing so. For a start, they both live in Switzerland.

I believe Tamara was and Jay were trying to leave Switzerland for warmer climates because it had snowed in Gstaad.

‘They went to Dubai and from there they disappeared to the Maldives, since they already had a trip there booked for some time and it was easier to fly straight there from Dubai so they didn’t have to break any rules. The flight was easy and the tickets were much cheaper at that time.

Talking to the Times’ T2 in February, the billionaire asserted she hasn’t broken rules and said: ‘We’re currently in Monaco. This is it for the moment. Not sure where we’ll be next week . . . We’re very Covid-conscious. We’ve flown completely around the world to try and miss it. 

‘What I think we’ve realised now is you can’t run from coronavirus.’

The UK saw a “tsunami of cancellations” for restaurants and pubs. Chris Whitty and Boris Johnson urged the nation to only socialize if it was necessary, and not with large groups.

Independent SAGE, a group made up of doctors and scientists has demanded a 10-day shutdown. This would include bans on mixing households and closing of all hospitality businesses. They accused Prime Minister David Cameron of not imposing stricter controls sooner and claimed that the time was right for emergency action.

In a double-take on the Prime Minister’s suggestion that socializing must be reduced to prevent Covid from being caught over Christmas Week, Gillian Keegan, Health Minister said: “Everybody is urging caution. The majority of people will have a friend or family member who is positive to Covid. If you are positive you can be kept isolated from the rest of your family for Christmas. That’s going to cause people to be a little more cautious.

According to the French government, no other non-essential travelers from the UK are allowed into France after the weekend. This is devastating news for those who are trying to ski or escape the UK over this festive season.

 A French government spokesman confirmed there will be a ‘requirement to have an essential reason to travel to, or come from, the UK, both for the unvaccinated and vaccinated’.
