You can be bolder with your style this year if you made New Year’s resolution to make it more courageous in 2022.

Julia Fox, a rising star in the music industry, wore racy thong pants to Broadway on Tuesday with Kanye West. She also wore a $24 pair of G-string pants to dinner.

Fox looked radiant in a black top and wore it under a chic black, blue, and white coat to her theatre arrival. At dinner she opted for a leather jacket over the black shirt.

This style is an update on the 90s trend for ‘exposed Thongs’. It allows women to show their underwear above low-rise jeans’ waistbands, and then combine them into one garment.

FEMAIL was told by Miranda Holder, a TV celebrity fashion expert, that the new trend is ‘a bit cheeky and confident’.

“This season’s trend is to create garments that have the G-string exposed or the thong sewn in. It moves the trend away form the grunge vibes of hip hop and makes it feel couture and more glamorous.

“As we look forward to a brighter 2022,” she continued, “There is no better creative outlet for productively getting rid of some Covid-related anxiety than through the catwalks or high streets, where this trend will feature prominently this spring/summer.”

“Many of us are ready to let go of caution and incorporate more colorful, risky fashion options back into our everyday looks.

“Designers have always been one step ahead of the curve and have reinvented the whale story trend, even though it might be taken as a joke (ha ha).

“The vibe is a bit cheeky and body confident. It’s just in time to celebrate womanly curves.

Meanwhile Celebrity Stylist Rochelle White explained there had been a ‘shift in fashion and trends’ during the pandemic thanks to platforms like TikTok, saying: ‘The nostalgic fashion trend of things showing above low cut jeans made a comeback in 2021, but an even bigger come back in 2022.

Meanwhile Molly Mae Hague wowed her millions of Instagram followers last year when she opted to wear the trend, captioning her post: 'Party in the back'

Molly Mae Hague’s millions of Instagram followers were enchanted last year as she chose to rock the trend. Her post captioned: “Party at the back”

“I saw on the internet, and thanks to Instagram & Tik Tok thongs have now been attached fully to their clothes.

“This look is available in trousers, skirts and jeans. Because many of us have spent several days, weeks or months wearing tracksuits/co-ords or luxe loungewear for many years, I believe that 2022 is a time when people will be ready to expose more of their skin.

This look has been worn by Hailey Bieber, Dua Lipa and other celebrities.

Versace and Givenchy were able to create looks for runway 2021.

“I believe that this might be something we will see more of as we move into the warmer months. But, I am not sure if it will be an attractive look for all.

Hannah Eichler, a stylist explained that the G-string is a key part of any noughties wardrobe. A pivotal part of any noughties wardrobe, with Y2K style the hot topic it was only a matter of time before the humble thong fell back into fashion’s favour.

Exposed thongs are back in fashion!

Rochelle White, celebrity stylist explained previously how social media sites that allow users to share throwbacks from both the 1990s and the early 2000s are largely responsible for keeping this trend alive.

She added, “But, also TikTok.” “I believe that many TikTok creators, US-based, have slowly been bringing back items like Von Dutch and glitter.

“Also in 2020, the catwalk brought it back.

Maximilian Davis, a designer from Maximilian Davis, brought it back to her SS2021 London Fashion Week Show.

“Not to mention British-Indian designer Supriya Lele and Donatella Versace did the same.”

“Though underwear trends are much lower-key in 2022, the once embarrassing VPL almost has become normal!” back in the noughties, the G-string or thong was a fashion statement, with high street destinations like La Senza stocking designs adorned with diamante’s and Playboy bunny motifs.

‘Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears were famed for their raunchy, underwear as outerwear aesthetic back in their heyday, and this season everyone from Bella Hadid to Dua Lipa and Kendall Jenner are adopting the G-string trend, with one crucial difference – the trend now sees intricate strings attached to hipster trousers and cut out dresses.’

Hannah suggested that not all of the trends require you to buy raunchy clothes.

She advised: ‘If you’re feeling wary of this mini trend, may we suggest contrasting the look with casual pieces.

The trend is more easily captured when paired with a knit skirt, jean or a low-slung sweater.

“Or, why not follow the fashion and wear a bra strap underneath a cardigan like Katie Holmes?”

Meanwhile she added: ‘And if you’re willing to work the G-string but are looking for the comfy girl’s version, take a look at the growing range of sustainable lingerie brands which are both comfy and stylish – labels like Cavalier, Prism and Boody make G-strings from bamboo fibres with are comfortable and in colours which are worthy of a cheeky flash.’

The trend can sometimes expose the top half of the derrière.

This racy style, which emphasizes the wearer’s back is an imitation Gucci’s controversial 1998 spring collection. It features models in satin pants with leather hip straps that peek above the waistband.
