The Mail on Sunday exclusively revealed that Lord Frost, Cabinet Minister in Boris Johnson’s Government has resigned.

His dramatic move – triggered by his growing ‘disillusionment’ with the ‘direction’ of Tory policy – has sparked yet another crisis within a beleaguered Downing Street.

It is believed that Lord Frost, the Brexit Minister for Britain, resigned a week ago but was convinced by Mr Johnson to remain in the post until January.

A senior Government source said Lord Frost’s departure had been prompted by the introduction of ‘Plan B’ Covid measures, including vaccine passports

After months of discontent about tax increases and the high cost of “net zero” environmental policies, this was the last straw.

This is Johnson’s latest defeat. It follows a Commons rebellion by 100 Tory MPs against ‘Plan B’ measures, and the loss to a 23,000 majority at the North Shropshire By-election.

Conservative MPs have begun to talk about the possibility of a challenge for the leadership of the Prime Minister within six months. Foreign Secretary Liz Truss and Chancellor Rishi Sunak are the leading contenders.
