After her husband was ill with severe foot pain, the bride danced with her mannequin on her wedding night. 

The Victorian, a wedding venue in Youngsville, North Carolina, shared a TikTok video of Christine Karmire with her stand-in groom — a garment steamer dressed in a suit and topped with an iPad featuring a picture of her husband Gannon on the screen.  

‘When the groom suddenly becomes sick & goes to the hospital on wedding day,’ the venue captioned the footage, which has been viewed more than 887,000 times.

It works! Christine’s groom-in-wait was a seamstress who was dressed in a suit. He was also topped with an Apple iPad showing a Gannon picture.

Christine is seen dancing and holding the mannequin’s sleeve as she cuts the wedding cake. Even pretends she is going to give some to her husband.  

The reception guests were enthralled by the novelty mannequin. They took photos with it, and even danced around it at the reception.   

The Victorian published the video. It noted that Gannon was suffering from severe food poisoning. But, it’s now clear that he’s doing much better.  

The creative resolution to the wedding crisis received mixed reactions in the comments. Fans praised Christine’s willingness to go with the flow.

One person said that the bride displayed the most positive attitude. Another added, “I loved how they played with the punches, and maintained the joy.” 

Other people admitted that they would be devastated. One TikToker wrote: “I would literally cry all the time.” 

There were also critics that criticized Christine for not being there to support Gannon while he was at the hospital.

One person asked, “Should she not be beside him?” Another laughed and said, “In sickness or in health” at his best. 

Their decision: When Gannon was feeling better, he took to the comments to thank The Victorian and point out that he told Christine to enjoy their wedding without him

They made the right decision.

Gannon made the decision to allow Christine to remain at the reception along with her friends. He also explained that he hoped Christine would make it home on time. 

Gannon started feeling better.

‘GROOM HERE! HUGE thank you to Victorian. “Covid” was the third time we tried to have a wedding. 

“Due to hospital regulations and other attempts, and hopes that I return to the ceremony. “I wanted her to remain with her loved ones,” he said, explaining that they have been together almost eight years and will continue to enjoy many happy times. 

Gannon and Christine said “I do” in July 2020 as part of the pandemic. It was also their last attempt to share their joy with their families and friends.

Hard to handle: In a Facebook post, the groom shared that he ended up in the hospital two hours before their wedding and didn't get out until 8:30 that night

It was hard to deal with: The groom posted on Facebook that he had been admitted to the hospital just two hours prior the wedding, and that he didn’t leave until 8:15 that evening.

He opened up about their disastrous day on Facebook, writing: ‘For anyone that’s curious how our wedding went… The Victorian posted it on TikTok and it’s blowing up.’

Gannon stated that Gannon was in hospital for two hours just before the wedding. He went to the venue, then went back home with Christine. 

‘I’ve been asleep for the better part of 56 hours recovering, have many texts and messages to get back to people, but I am happy and healthy!’ He went on. “You can check the video that has over 80k hits! 

‘Unfortunately some people are not liking her choices,’ he added, ‘they were decisions WE made together in hopes of me getting back to the wedding with at least some time to celebrate and hang out with friends and family we don’t get to see very often.’
