‘He stated Jihad was obligatory, an obligation. He stated Jihad by preventing by sword was obligatory till the day of resurrection. 

‘The prosecution case is evident and simple. By standing up on the entrance of a busy mosque, and by fairly intentionally saying Jihad by preventing by sword, the defendant was encouraging terrorism.

‘Encouraging violence within the title of Islam. And if the defendant’s phrases weren’t clear sufficient, he additionally made a stabbing gesture together with his fingers.’

Jurors heard the passionate tones of Deghayes’ speech because the mosque’s CCTV footage was performed. ‘There isn’t any god however Allah,’ Deghayes stated.

‘Allah is extra highly effective than you. You, idiots. You non-believers, idiots. Allah is extra highly effective than you. The non-believer…is an fool; he is silly.

‘Jihad is obligatory, upon you, you, you and also you till the Day of Resurrection, regardless of the British Authorities thinks, no matter Stop thinks, no matter Israel thinks.

‘Ship to the ocean. They’ll go and drink from the ocean…Allah curse their fathers, OK?

Deghayes, initially from Libya, continued: ‘Jihad, Jihad, Jihad! Jihad is obligatory. Jihad by preventing by sword meaning this Jihad is obligatory upon you.’

Mr Lloyd defined that ‘Jihad’ can imply many issues, however advised it, on this case, meant ‘a violent wrestle in help of Islam’.

He repeated that the prosecution case is that Deghayes’s phrases and gestures have been ‘encouraging folks to undertake violent jihad’.

‘The defendant’s speech demonstrates him to be an Islamic extremist,’ Mr Lloyd added. ‘He’s somebody who believes in using violence in the reason for Islam.

‘On the very least, he was reckless as as to if folks could be inspired by what they heard. This was not a speech given innocently or naively by the defendant.’

Deghayes, of Saltdean, Brighton, denied encouraging terrorism. The trial continues.
