An unnamed British drug baron is facing a life sentence in an inhumane Philippines prison for leading an underground’reign in terror’ that used corrupt officials and policemen to control Manila.

According to Manila police officers, Darren Wall (44) was an ex-boxer who is known as Jack because of the Union Jack tattooed across his neck. His brutal gang included kidnappings, extortion and drug trafficking.

This East End villain, who moved to the Philippines five years ago, lived in a villa located in Better Living. Khanary Jane Abejo is a 23-year-old former bartender.

After Wall was charged with assaulting and brandishing weapons in the nightclub, Wall and the couple were arrested.

Investigators claimed that he was armed with a Beretta pistol 9mm and 6g cocaine. Six officers were needed to subdue the suspect.

Investigators discovered a mountainous amount of evidence against him and his gang only after he had been taken into custody. They also seized CCTV footage of him brutally beating victims refusing to pay him protection money.

Investigators are looking into five Filipino National Police officers who were promoted to the rank Major. This would make Wall feel untouchable.

Police received a flood of calls from victims who wanted to testify after Wall was arrested. They were not surprised that he wasn’t being protected by the law.

Wall’s early criminal career in Britain was much less successful than his drug-kingpin life in Manila. Wall made headlines in Britain in 2009 when he and his two accomplices robbed an ATM in Gloucestershire.

Wall, the getaway driver after stealing the cash dispenser managed to smash their van into the ditch and trap himself and his accomplice inside the vehicle.

Wall was the leader of the East London gang and sentenced to four years in prison after he admitted trying to steal cash from a garage near Cheltenham, on Christmas Eve 2012.

Judge William Hart described him as a “piece of professional villainy” for Wall. After committing similar offences in Cambridgeshire, as well as in West End, you came to this place with the intention of committing this offense.

Wall is currently being held at Taguig Southern Police District HQ, Southern Manila.

A judge will try him later in the year. If convicted, he will probably be sent to the capital’s New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City, a prison noted for its subhuman conditions, gangs and murders in a country with the most overcrowded jail population in the world.

MailOnline reporters were granted exclusive access this week to Wall in his filthy, overcrowded cell, which currently houses 40 inmates from China and India. Wall is also accompanied by a number of rapists and murderers.

He sat down on a bowl of rice and answered almost all questions. However, when we asked him if his life was good in the Philippines, he said that he did have a great life. When asked if he was satisfied with his treatment, the man replied: “very happy.”

Curiously though, Wall’s wife Jane (the young female prisoner) was allowed to leave her cell. We watched as Jane chatted to Wall behind the bars.

Five officers, up to the rank of Major in the Philippines National Police are also being investigated, suspected of being on Wall's payroll, thus making him feel 'untouchable' from the law. (Pictured: Wall with wife)

MailOnline received a statement from her stating that she was originally from Mindanao (South Philippines) and had been working as an internet seller. The charge she faces is less severe than that of her husband, and she may be released soon.

One chilling police video shows Wall giving a brutal beating to an accused man who he was trying to extort money at a hookah bar.

Wall first sees the man pleading for help with some of his paid thugs. He holds his hands in supplication and Wall rushes in. The henchmen try to get him to move away but Wall pushes them out of his way.

The man finally collapses before being taken away.

The video was also provided by Detectives. Wall shouted repeatedly at police officers while being handcuffed at the nightclub. This is not my gun! That’s what you did! [planted it].’

Wall used to live in the Better Living neighborhood, an elite area of Manila.

Col. Villanueva said that he ran his criminal protection organization out of fear. “It is unusual for a foreigner to arrive in the Philippines and be a major player in the criminal underworld.

“But now, his reign is over. Because he paid policemen, he believed he was capable of doing anything. We are investigating five officers, and one is quite senior – a major – but we may yet find his network is even more extensive.

‘A lot of money was going through his hands each day – we understand he paid his enforcers and bouncers by the day and he paid off the corrupt officers at the rate of 2,000 pesos (£30) a day. [more than doubling their salary].

“It is evident from the CCTV that Jack thought he was able to get away with everything, and didn’t worry about reaching for a gun on camera. Numerous of his victims have reached out to us, and have provided evidence by showing their severe injuries.

Wall was hoping to increase his business empire, so he converted a garage into a gym called British Bulldog Empire. A neighbor said that Wall hadn’t paid rent in four months and there were only a few machines left on the neglected premises.

Wall was often heard by a neighbor near his Better Living villa arguing with his wife and his brother.

The neighbour said that Jack would keep the girl and her brother locked up when he left work. “I’m not sure if Jack beat her but it was evident that he was very volatile.”

“He used to train in street boxing with his trainer. He said he was street-fighter, and that there would be a fight next month.

Jane Wall’s Facebook page shows that she enjoyed the glittering life his criminal acts gave them at least temporarily.

They are pictured together on their wedding day, apparently from January this year, with the beaming bride in cream showing off her ring next to her husband – who couldn’t even manage to raise a smile.

Others photos include them getting dressed for dinner at an American diner in Makati. Jane also snaps in a shopping mall with a Dior belt.

Ironically, one of her last posts, at the start of March, featured a meme that declared: “Hello, March.” It will be a great month. Claim it.’
