Pensioner Stephen Aspinall, 68, from Bournemouth, Dorset, was arrested and charged with offences of child exploitation at Bournemouth Crown Court on November 12
Aspinall admitted to the Bournemouth Crown Court charges and was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment. He also received a four-year license.
Dorset Police spokesmen said Aspinall from Knole Road in Bournemouth was responsible for the crimes between December 2017 to September 2019.
“A thorough investigation of Dorset Police’s Paedophile Online Investigation Team(POLIT), produced evidence that the defendant used Skype to communicate with the mother of her child in the Philippines, making online payments and sending pictures of abuse to her.
‘After receiving evidence from the National Crime Agency (NCA) relating to online payments made by the defendant to an account in the Philippines, POLIT officers established that Aspinall had made 86 financial payments totalling £2,916.37 to recipients in the Philippines.
“On the 7th of November 2019, officers went to defendant’s home, arrested him, and seize his computer and other digital devices. The devices were examined and found evidence of Skype calls with the victim’s mom. There was also evidence of indecent images.
“More then 150 Category A images, plus more than 800 Category B images and over 3,000 Category C images were discovered. Many images depicted victims in the Philippines.
POLIT Detective Constable Steve Cartwright said that this was a disturbing case in which a young innocent victim has been repeatedly sexually exploited.
“With the support of the Dorset Police’s Digital Forensic Unit (Dorset Police), we were able compile large amounts of evidence to prove Aspinall’s inhumane offending. We brought him before the court and held him accountable.
“Through our collaboration with the NCA, Philippines authorities we were able to secure the victim and continue an investigation into criminal offenses committed within their jurisdiction.
“The POLIT Team is dedicated to working alongside partners like the National Crime Agency and other police forces to minimize the risk for children. We actively identify people using the internet to perpetrate sexual abuse on children.
If you suspect that someone uses the internet to harass or obtain indecent images of your children, please contact Crimestoppers and Dorset Police.
