The Egyptian toyboy husband of a British pensioner who stunned the nation with intimate details of their sex life has insisted he isn’t using his wife for money and is a ‘rich man’ despite critics concerns.

Iris Jones, an ex-cleaner from Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, who gets by on a £200-a-week pension and disability benefit, met Mohamed Ibriham, from Cairo, on Facebook in the summer of 2019.

They met again in person and were married in November 2020. Mohamed and Irene had to wait for visas so they didn’t see one another in person. They kept in touch through Facebook chat and phone.

Iris – who gained national notoriety after sharing details of her sex life with Mohamed – was shopping earlier this month when Mohamed rang to tell her that he’d been granted a three-year visa after meeting the English language requirements and proving he was able to move in with Iris.

Appearing on This Morning today to talk about their reunion, the two dismissed negative reactions they’ve received to their 46-year age gap and insisted they will love each other ‘forever’ – with Mohamed adding that he’s a ‘rich man’ with a bungalow in Cairo.

Iris was first seen by viewers in January 2020, when her story of love with Mohamed began. They were finally reunited when Mohamed’s Visa was approved on November 3.

Co-host Holly Willoughby began by explaining Iris didn’t know what was going to happen while waiting for the visa and Iris said:  ‘No, no, living day to day. You know what it is like to live on the edge of death?

Talking, messaging, morning, noon, and night got tedious. Then I asked myself, “When will he come over?”

Phillip Schofield, Phillip’s co-presenter, asked Iris where she was when she learned that the visa had been approved.

Iris said that she remembered being in Tesco and doing her shopping in the fruit aisle. It was so hard to stop the tears from pouring down. One assistant said to me, “Are you okay?” The assistant asked me, “Are you alright?” I answered, “Yes, it’s just very, very joyful.”

The pair (pictured) later met in person, before marrying each other in November 2020. But due to Mohamed's wait for a visa, they hadn't seen each other in person since last December, keeping in touch via phone and Facebook chat

Iris, who was well-known for sharing intimate details about her sex lives with Mohamed, was out shopping when Mohamed called to inform her that Mohamed had been granted a visa for three years. He’d met the English language requirements to be able to live with Iris.

Mohamed also shared his feelings at the time he discovered the news. “I feel in the sky,” he said. “Iris!” In Cairo, I was screaming. People think that I am crazy, mad. My wife, I’ll finally be with you!

Iris felt surreal when they were reunited at the airport. She said, “It felt like I was looking outside myself.”

Phillip wanted to know what it was like living in Britain. Mohamed answered, ‘I cannot explain. There is a lot of pressure. I can’t explain. Some people attack us. Why? I am working… I have business administration. I’m not with Iris because I need something… I am a rich man, I have a bungalow in Cairo.’

Iris defended her relationship with Mohamed despite negative remarks that she made about her using Iris as her money.

“Love conquers all,” she declared. “We are going through difficulties now, because Mohamed is adapting to west life and I am adapting to having a man in my place.
