An alleged bully male midwife, who allegedly took pictures of two women having Caesarean section without their consent and then filmed himself doing sex in a public toilet, is now facing 29 misconduct charges.
Paul Johnson was a senior midwife at Hull Women and Children’s Hospital, where he had worked for 18 years, and had helped to deliver more than 2,000 babies when he was suspended from his role in October 2020.
In August 2019, he was the subject of a Nursing and Midwifery Council hearing. There he faces 29 misconduct charges, including claims that he claimed to have told a colleague he had a gorgeous figure’ and would be bringing’some glamour and youthfulness’ to the team.
Mr Johnson, one of only 50 male midwives across the country in 2018, is alleged to have taken photographs of two women during a Caesarean section without their permission, before sending the images to a colleague he was in a relationship with at the time.
Barrister Raj Joshi told the panel that an investigation into Mr Johnson had also found he filmed a video of himself performing a sex act in a hospital toilet before sending it to a colleague.
He continued, “It was stated that he had been in Florida’s gymnasium. The work rotas prove not only that the background was closely related to the hospital.
Johnson was also accused by another worker of asking her favorite sexual position.

A midwife is a top member of staff who was responsible for overseeing and coordination on the maternity ward.
Derek McFaul was the chairperson of the misconduct panel and stated during the Monday hearing, which is expected to last for four days that other charges included bad management and poor decision-making.
The panel was told by Mr Joshi that Johnson, a joker, was called “Scarlet Pimpernel” because of his tendency to disappear during shifts and not telling coworkers where he went.
According to some reports, he told his colleague that he was moving his vehicle. However, he then allegedly messaged the colleague that he was having a sexual relationship and that he’d been in an affair with a woman he knew.
According to Mr Joshi, “He held a high-ranking managerial post. Junior staff found it difficult to question his behavior and make the necessary corrections.”
“He used to bully or confront his peers.
Johnson was not present at Monday’s hearing.
