After being seen in the park where gay men gather, a father-of-2 psychiatrist was robbed and killed. A jury heard this today.
Dr Gary Jenkins (54), sustained horrific injuries after he was attacked under Cardiff Castle, Bute Park in Cardiff on July 20, 2013.
The court was told that the spot is a popular place for gay men to have sex.
Jason Edwards (25), Lee William Strickland (36) and a 17 year-old girl were charged with the murder of Mr Jenkins. Legal reasons for this cannot be cited.

After a witness tried desperately to assist Dr Jenkins, Dr Jenkins was taken to the hospital.
The prosecution case was presented by Judge Daniel Williams to jurors of Merthyr Tydfil crown Court.
He explained that Gary Jenkins died in an accident in Bute Park, Cardiff’s central area.
The prosecution claims that Gary Jenkins was robbed of his bag by three suspects.
He died sixteen days after the brutal assault by three men.
The prosecution case states that they attacked a witness, who was trying to help them.

“This part of Bute park is well-known for being a spot where gay men can have their sex together. According to Gary Jenkins, the attack on him was homophobic.
Dr Jenkins sustained a ‘unsurvivable brain injury’ and passed away 16 days after his accident at Cardiff University Hospital.
Consultant psychiatrist, Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust. He was known as the ‘loving father to two’.
His family released the following statement: “We are devastated to announce Dr Gary Jenkins’s untimely passing. He was a loving father to two beautiful daughters.
“He was a happy person who lived his life with music and love. He also had a great sense of creativity.
Tomorrow marks the beginning of the trial.
