It’s painful: Caroline Flack’s mother Christine (71) has condemned the portrayal of fake celebrities as grieving for her daughter. She admitted that it hurt to watch them pretending they are friends.

Christine told The Sun how she maintains a close relationship with Natalie Pinkham, charity CEO Josie Naughton and Dawn O’Porter – three of Caroline’s oldest friends.

Her daughter was also open about the pain of seeing other people grieve. This week, I heard someone call her friend. It really hurt.

“I enjoy seeing Dawn, Josie, and Natalie. But it is sometimes painful when I see those who claim to have known her.”

Caroline’s mother also spoke out about how Caroline looked after her real friends and acknowledged the loss of the fans she loved.

Devastating: The presenter's heartbroken mum has also admitted that this Christmas will be worse than the last, now that her death 'has become real'

Hurt: 'I saw someone on the telly this week calling her a friend and it really hurt... it hurts sometimes when I have to see people who say they knew her' admitted Christine

Hurt: Christine admitted that she saw someone calling her friend on television this week. It really hurt… sometimes it hurts when people claim to know her.

According to her, ‘When there is a media death, it’s not possible for you to just mourn quietly. Many people are grieving, even though they don’t know her, so it’s important to take care of them as well.

Christine admitted that she has been dealing with the holidays without Caroline in a heartbreaking way.

Caroline was found dead on February 15 2020, aged 40, the day after hearing the Crown Prosecution Service would go ahead with a trial for allegedly attacking her model and former tennis player boyfriend Lewis Burton in December 2019.

When the suicide news was announced amid spiralling mental problems, it shocked friends, family, TV and community members.

Lou Teasdale had been Caroline’s friend and caretaker. He had taken Caroline out shopping when she died. She called her father to find her when she couldn’t gain access to the house.

Caroline died by suicide at an August inquest. Mary Hassell was the coroner and stated: “The most important decision I have to make is whether Caroline took their own lives…

“I must be sure she did not act in such a manner as to cause her to die, or that she had the intention to do so.

“In Caroline’s case, I believe she was determined to bring her own death.” She killed herself. Her only expectation was her own demise. It’s clear in my thoughts that there is no doubt.

Flack was said to have suffered from “fluctuating illness” and that he was “distressed” by the idea of being tried.

She stated that Caroline had suffered from fluctuating mental health and had struggled in the past. There had been difficulties…

Although she led what some would call a charming lifestyle, she faced many challenges as she became increasingly famous.

“It was all played out in national media – which was extremely difficult for her. It was a daunting prospect for her to lose the job that she loved and not be able to work in it.

I believe the main reason she ended her life is because she realized she was going to be tried for certain and that her fate would depend on how she handles the press, media, and publicity. That’s what I believe is the essence of it.

Christine, Christine’s mother, wept and told the coroner via video link: “I completely agree. I think that you have it right on. You aren’t allowed to tell certain things. It is up to you to decide if you want to continue. It’s spot on.

The coroner concluded that suicide by hanging was the cause of death.

Mrs Hassell stated that Caroline committed suicide at her home in February 2015 due to an acute episode of fluctuating health problems and distress.
