Below is a listing of alleged gatherings that have in some cases been admitted.
– May 15 2020: Downing Street garden party
Boris Johnson, Carrie Johnson (his wife, the former chief advisor Dominic Cummings), and Martin Reynolds, Mr Johnson’s principal personal secretary were all photographed in a leaked photograph to The Guardian. The photo shows them sitting at a No.10 garden table with wine and cheese.
There were 15 others in the photo, but Prime Minister David Cameron insists that this was a working meeting. He said, ‘Those were meetings among people at work talking about work.
– May 20 2020: BYOB garden party
This revelation was made in an email that Mr Reynolds sent to over 100 Downing Street staff, inviting them to bring their own alcohol to an evening event.
Numerous reports claim that Prime Minister David Cameron attended the event alongside his wife.
Nov 13, 2020: Senior aides leave party
Reports at that time stated that Johnson delivered a speech of thanks to Lee Cain (his departing director for communications, and an ally of Mr Cummings).
– November 13 2020: Johnsons’ flat party
It has been alleged that Prime Minister Cummings hosted events in his flat while he was away.
The claim was called ‘total absurdity’ by a Johnson spokesperson.
December 25, 2020: Treasury beverages
According to a Treasury spokesperson, several staff members had entered the office for the Spending Review.
He stated that some staff members had taken impromptu beverages at their desks following the event.
December 27, 2020: The second member of staff will be leaving Do?
The Mirror reported the departure speech of the Prime Minister to an aide towards the end November as the lockdown in England continued.
According to other reports, the reason for Cleo’s departure is unknown. Watson was a Downing Street official and friend of Mr Cummings.
Dec 10, 2020: Department for Education Party
After The Mirror reported that Gavin Williamson, former education secretary, hosted a party at Whitehall Headquarters and gave a brief speech.
The spokesperson acknowledged that it was better to not have assembled in that manner at the time.
Dec 11th 2020: Delivered wine refrigerator to Downing Street in support of staff’s “wine-time Fridays”.
The back door at No. 10 was opened to receive a refrigerator that holds 34 bottles.
The Mirror reports that fridges were required for employees’ ‘wine time Fridays’, held during lockdown. The Prime Minster encouraged parties to help their ‘let out steam’.
Staff found regular social events to be especially popular between the autumn 2020 and spring 2020, when they were “fatigued” by Covid restrictions which prohibited socialising.
According to some reports, Johnson attended at least a handful of these events.
Party with Shaun Bailey, Tory London mayoral candidate and his staff on December 14, 2020
Shaun Bailey apologised sincerely for not attending the Conservative Campaign Headquarters gathering (CCHQ), organized by his campaign staff.
He wrote, “It’s a grave error of judgement at a time where Londoners made immense sacrifices for our safety and I’m deeply sorry about it,”.
After The Mirror published an image of him at the meeting, he resigned as chair of the London Assembly’s Police and Crime Committee.
– December 15 2020: Downing Street quiz
The quiz featured the Prime Minister on screen, insisting that he had not broken any rules.
Sunday Mirror published an image of Johnson with two colleagues. One was dressed in tinsel, the other a Santa hat.
Downing Street acknowledged that Mr Johnson was present at the quiz, but said it was virtual.
December 16, 2020: Department for Transport Party
The Mirror claimed that top civil servants danced and boozed at the event which was allegedly organized by Grant Shapps, Transport Secretary.
DfT spokesperson said that fewer than 12 staff were present in the office. They had an informal, low-key gathering after the workday on December 16th. Food and drinks were consumed.
“We recognize that this decision was incorrect and apologize for it.”
– December 17 2020: Cabinet Office ‘Christmas party’
Numerous outlets have reported that the Cabinet Office hosted a gathering on December 17th.
The Times reported that Cabinet Secretary Simon Case was present at the party, which took place in Room 103 of Cabinet Office. It had been organized by Mr Case’s private secretary and included on digital calendars under the heading “Christmas party!”‘.
According to the Cabinet Office, the quiz was confirmed. A spokesperson stated that the Cabinet Secretary was not involved in the event but had walked by the team’s offices on the way back.
Christmas 17th 2020: Drinks for ex-Covid Taskforce Head
Former director general of Government’s Covid Taskforce, she said that she regretted leaving alcohol out during the coronavirus restriction days prior to Christmas 2020.
Kate Josephs was named chief executive of Sheffield City Council.
December 18, 2020: Downing Street’s Christmas party
One of the claims that started off these rule-breaking accusations is that Downing Street staff were invited to a party on December 18.
According to reports, officials and advisors made speeches, shared cheese boards, and drank with each other. Secret Santa gifts were exchanged, but the Prime Minister isn’t believed to have been there.
Allegra Struton, Johnson’s spokeswoman was fired after she was filmed laughing with his aides during mock press conferences.
Running up to Christmas 2020
The Daily Mirror reports that Johnson was at a leave-taking ceremony for Captain Steve Higham, a defence advisor, before Christmas 2020.
Although the newspaper claimed that the Prime Minister had given a speech, No.10 did not reply to our request and the Ministry of Defence refused to comment.
March 16th 2021: Dancing and drinks on the night prior to the funeral of the Duke.
The Telegraph reported advisers and civil servants met after work to attend two events each Friday evening.
They marked the departure of James Slack who was Mr Johnson’s ex-director of communications and was one of Prime Minister Johnson’s personal photographer.
While Mr. Slack left his No. 10 position to take on the role of deputy editor-in chief at The Sun, Mr. Slack expressed regret for his ‘anger’ and ‘hurt’, while Downing Street offered its condolences to the Queen.
According to The Telegraph, a spokesperson for No. 10 stated that Mr Johnson wasn’t in Downing Street on the day of his arrest and was instead at Chequers.
Reports from witnesses indicate that people danced to music and were drunk. The newspaper also stated that there was a total of 30 people who attended each event.
