A couple has blasted their ‘neighbour from hell’ after he erected a huge fence along a shared driveway to stop them opening their car doors or putting their bins out.

Chris and Millie Adams said Matthew Carter had left them ‘living in a nightmare’ after building the 3ft barrier at the house in Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire.

The couple scolded him for leaving little space outside of their three-bedroom house for the French Bulldog.

Following failed peace talks, tensions rose so much that the police were summoned to the streets.

Mrs Adams, who works in admin, told the Sun: ‘We worked so hard to purchase this property but now we detest it and can’t bear to spend any time in the hell house.

I’d prefer to go back and live in a community. It’s the same place we used to live before, and it was a great neighbourhood. It’s a really s*** situation.’

Adams stated that Adams’ plans were “absolutely destroyed.” You can’t make it at home happy.

Her Facebook post read: “Completely confused with what to do now, written to our MP…we are desperate in our own homes, how could this be legal!?

“We cannot fully open either of our cars or put our trash bins out without moving both cars.

“We’re wedged between two neighbouring properties, and are now unable fit any larger vehicle than a hatchback. We also have difficulty getting into and out of the car due to a disability.

“This conflict has caused me and my husband to lose their mental health. I have also suffered from chronic pain and an invisible disability.

“We were a young couple, who struggled to get our first house. A future home for the family that we hate and cannot bear to live in.

“We won’t be able to sell the hell house because we now have evidence of a neighbour dispute that we need to share with a buyer.

‘We are desperate for any sort of advice or help, I have just paid £750 of my own money to a solicitor as we are starting legal proceedings against the neighbours now.’

The row reportedly erupted over parking on the street, where houses cost around £275,000.

Mr and Mrs Adams are newlyweds. The Adams moved there a full year ago. Mr Carter claims that he mediated the matter.

The neighbour claimed that he told them that he was going to build the house on December 6, and they got started within one week.

According to heating engineer Mr Carter, it has been enlarging each weekend and now covers the entire driveway.

While the middle of the fence measures approximately 3ft, the lowest section is about 6ft.

The couple claimed that it could run all the way to the driveway and they don’t want to leave their car.

Their argument has been boiling for nearly a year and has seen police forced to intervene

It has affected their mental health, Mr. Adams stated.

The fence was also erected and cut, according to them.

The couple have spent £750 on legal fees to investigate the legality of the huge barrier.

Irthlingborough Town Council said it is investigating the matter but declined to comment.

Northamptonshire Police said it was aware of ‘ongoing issues between the two parties’ but no criminality was being probed.

Requests for comments from the Sun were not answered by Mr Carter.
