Volkswagen workers shut down the shop when the time was right and left the protesters to chant on the concrete.

According to the group of scientists, the automaker acknowledged their right to protest, but did not make it easier for them during the demonstration.

Gianluca Grimalda posted on Twitter that they had turned down her request for a toilet bowl so she could urinate and defecate properly while being glued.

He stated that some protesters were also on hunger strike, until they receive their demand to decarbonize the German transport sector.

They are part of the “Scientist Rebel” group. The group promotes itself as a collective of scientists “willing to tell truth about climate crisis and then act upon it”.

They also called on Volkswagen, the largest automaker in America, to get involved in fighting pollution.

Photos of the demonstration were posted online. They showed six protestors glued to the ground, in front of three Porsches.

While they were sitting cross-legged on the ground, with their hands still glued to the surface, the lab coat-clad group looked off at the camera.

A second photo was shared hours later showing the group in darkness. They were sitting around in circles with the Porsche’s headlights glowing behind them, and had apparently unglued themselves.

After the departure of Volkswagen employees, more activists marched in support and are still present.

Mr Grimalda said: ‘There is a real link between CO2 emissions and rising global temperatures.

“Decarbonisation must be done as soon as possible, as the Roadmap 2050 target of net-zero greenhouse gases emissions is far too distant to make a significant impact.

Volkswagen is making public its commitment to work towards a cleaner future.

The carmaker has stepped up production of electric cars, saying: In pursuit of the goal to create an entirely electric model fleet, Volkswagen invests in a holistic approach’.

Additionally, the company is trying to decrease the “unavoidable” emissions created in the manufacturing phase and to also find ways of reducing these emissions throughout the lifespan of the car.
