According to Accenture, IHS Markit and Accenture, confidence among business has fallen to a 12-month low.

Fears of inflation and the possibility that it will be harder for skilled employees to get hired are worrying bosses.

But the UK is still ahead of France and Germany – with only Irish companies saying they are more confident than those in Britain. Less than half – 45 per cent – of UK firms expect an increase in trade in the year ahead. 

This is lower than the 58 percent recorded in June. Unwinding lockdowns had led to an increase in business. 

According to the research, almost 60 percent of businesses intend on raising their prices.
