If it were normal, today would have been a day of celebration for the Tory party and all citizens.

Although Covid’s dire predictions about the economic collapse are grim, Britain is able to enjoy three rays of sunshine.

Even though France is locked down from almost half a million coronavirus infections per day, UK infection rates have fallen so drastically that all restrictions on entry will be removed next week.

Boris Johnson visiting Finchley Memorial Hospital yesterday. His former top aide Dominic Cummings accused the Prime Minister of lying to Parliament

Yesterday, Boris Johnson visited Finchley Memorial Hospital. Dominic Cummings was his top former aide and accused Boris of lying about Parliament.

Thanks to the vaccine miracle, and the Government’s unprecedented business support strategy, unemployment is back to near pre-pandemic levels – despite being forecast to hit a terrifying 10 per cent.

And remarkably, redundancies are at their lowest level since records began – even with furlough winding up.

This isn’t an accident. Boris Johnson’s key Covid decisions were the reason for this. What is the leader of news bulletins?

Some Tory backbenchers who are wet behind the ears, have mutinous acts that border on madness.

Melton Mowbray MP Alicia Kearns is said to be part of the “pork pie pussch” that aims to defenestrate Boris.

Everyone can understand why their constituents are angry. Are they sure that Liz Truss or Rishi Sunak have the ability to hold them accountable?

Do they not realize that they conspire against the very man whose political talents won them place in Parliament?

Cummings, pictured last week, said he would swear under oath that the Johnson both was aware of and allowed a drinks party at Downing Street

Cummings (pictured last week) said that he would swear to the Johnson under oath, that he was both aware of and permitted a drink party at Downing Street

Between the grinds, there is the endless claim and counterclaim about how much the Prime Minster knew about Downing Street drinks parties up to 20 years ago.

This is part of an elaborate plot to discredit Mr Johnson. It was orchestrated and executed by Dominic Cummings his ex-consigliere, who has been described as a “career psychopath” for being a reclusive liar.

He concocted an unbelievable story to cover his Barnard Castle lockdown breach. Broadcasters dismissed him as a dreamer.

They now treat every word of his as though it were written from Sinai on stones.

The Mail doesn’t seek to minimize the mistakes of Mr Johnson.

They were mistaken. But with the country in such a parlous state – the cost-of-living crisis looms and British troops have deployed to Ukraine as Russia threatens war – Tories should be getting behind their leader, not destabilising him.

Conspirators need to take care of what they desire, as Labour is currently leading in polls.

Bleating the Beeb

Tim Davie, BBC Director-General, warned within hours that the freeze on two-year licensing fees would mean the end of many popular programs and channels.

Of course, there is a simpler way. This cash-fluting behemoth could live within its means.

Reduce the lavish sums being spent on stars and pampered? Or slash the excessive salaries – and numbers – of executives?

This culture must be ended. Every family across the country is having to tighten its belts. So should the state broadcaster – without moaning.

Roadblocks to labour

Do Labour claim to still be the party of working people?

They might be able to justify not supporting new laws that will prevent climate zealots from bringing large areas of the country to a grinding stop by gluing themselves to roads or public transport.

They prevent workers from getting jobs and parents cannot send their children to school. These people routinely put lives at risk.

Labour boasted once that it would be tough against crime. They have made those words into a joke by siding with eco-vandals.
