A Washington DC school teacher is on leave after she allegedly told third graders in the school library to reenact scenes from the Holocaust.
To teach horrors at DC’s Watkins elementary school, the teacher assigned pre-teens specific roles. Unidentified instructor was put on leave.
According to another parent, a Jewish student even played the role of Adolf Hitler during the strange reenactment.
After the stage was over, students were instructed to perform the suicide of Hitler.
MScott Berkowitz, Principal of the school, stated that students originally took their library class in order to self-direct their projects ahead of winter break.

But the instructor seemed to have other plans and wanted students to take part in the reenactment as part of their research.
Berkowitz wrote in an email to parents, ‘I would like to acknowledge the gravity this poor instructional decision. As students should never have to act out any atrocity or portray it, especially war or genocide’.
A parent claimed that their son was instructed to pretend to be aboard the trains to concentration camps, before he died in a gas chamber.
According to the parent who spoke under oath, the student was instructed to fake shoot his classmates.
Further accusations have been made against the instructor for making antisemitic remarks throughout.

Berkowitz reported that the whole class met with Watkins Elementary School’s mental health team to discuss the incident.
They answered, “Because Jews destroyed Christmas.”
According to one parent, the teacher instructed the students not to reveal the details of the reenactment to their classmates. However, they did tell their homeroom instructor immediately.
An investigation into the incident is currently underway at school.
DCPS spokesperson said that this lesson plan had not been approved. They sincerely apologized for the incident.
