An urgent hunt has begun for the man who opened fire on 10 people in New York City’s subway shooting at rush hour. He is currently in hiding.

Witnesses describe the gunman at 8:24 am as being a black 5ft 5 man, 170 lbs. The gas mask was put on by the gas mask. After that, he blew a smoke bomb onto a N-train heading northbound as it approached 36th Street in Brooklyn.

The shooter opened fire on ten victims, with five being in critical but stable conditions.

The gunman vanished as the train approached 36th St.

He could have escaped onto tracks prompting NYPD teams search tunnels while trains were stopped. However, he is still at large almost five hours later.

ABC reports that he could have possibly jumped aboard one of other stations’ trains, but no security cameras at the station were working at the time.

The alarming rise in crime is occurring amid an increase of more than 60% in crimes on the subway compared with last year.

The commuters were terrified and hurt and poured out onto the subway platforms at 36th Street. There, they were photographed writhing on their feet in agony.

After the shooting, five hours passed before the gunman was caught.

NYPD officers are searching for the suspect in New York’s subway tunnels. However, nearly five hours later police still haven’t released one image of him.

At a press conference, Commissioner Keechant said that although she hadn’t yet excluded terrorism as a motive, it wasn’t being investigated as an act terrorism.

Elle admitted that the police had yet to be able identify and locate the gunman.

In an effort to locate the gunman, police are going door-to–door in Brooklyn and asking residents of apartment buildings and store owners if there is any video of the incident.

She said that she was not ruling out anything and asked New Yorkers for photos, videos, or other information they felt might be useful to the police.

Eric Adams of NYC, the Mayor, is currently in quarantine following being diagnosed with COVID-19. He stated in a video message that he would not tolerate New Yorkers being terrorized. NYPD are searching for the suspect. He will be found.

The chaos unfolded at 8.30am on Tuesday morning near the 36th Street subway station in Sunset Park, Brooklyn

At 8.30am Tuesday morning, chaos broke out near Sunset Park’s 36th Street Subway Station in Brooklyn.

Governor Kathy Hochul said, “This morning normal New Yorkers woken up anticipating a fairly ordinary day.” They left home, got up, and went to school, work, and lived a normal lifestyle.

“That was abruptly broken by someone so cold-hearted, and depraved. This person is now on the run. The city of New York is experiencing an active shooter situation.

Mayor Eric Adams is now in isolation following being diagnosed as COVID-19. He released a message to anyone who has any photos, videos, or information about the suspect.

Schools around the subway station were told to take refuge and an amber alert was issued for most of the city.

One witness told The New York Post the gunman – who was described as a ‘5ft 5 black man weighing 170lbs’, fired ‘too many rounds to count’.

The type of weapon that he used is not known.

The video was taken in the car next to the train. It shows commuters who are worried about their safety leaving the door open while someone bangs on it, begging for entry. They attempted to unlock it, but it was closed.

Eyewitnesses who were shocked at the events recount how smoke bombs, bullets and other weapons triggered a horror stampede.

Terrified witnesses described the horror stampede that erupted after the shooting, which saw children being crushed by commuters trying to avoid the hail of bullets.

The subway car exit was met with a massive surge of people screaming ‘gun’ or ‘bomb’ as they fled for their lives.

Cemile Toseglu (17), was a Brooklyn Tech student who was going to school. She said that other riders panicked and jumped on top of her while the gunman carried out his rampage.

She told DailyMail.com: ‘The train carried on to 46th street but then we were told to get on the R train because the N wasn’t moving.

The R was very crowded. I think it was the craziest train station that I’ve seen. The train conductor on 25th Street said that there would be delays, so the trains were still standing.

“That was when it became loud and everyone ran at me, a huge crowd. People ran up to a woman who had fallen and was then run over by others.

“Then, someone screamed at me and I ran off the train. Although I was not far from the exit of the train station, people kept jumping on top of me for their escape.

“No one knew the truth. The reason I wasn’t able to see the man was that I was nearer the exit of the carriage in which I was riding. This was the R-train’s most packed carriage.

From her home she said: “I was most afraid about the fact there were so many kids on their way to school.”

‘I thought he was an MTA worker at first because I was like, I didn’t like pay too much attention. What do you know? You’ve got the orange on,’ the witness said.

CNN reported Yav Montano that he was traveling northbound on N Train between 59th Street and 36th Street when a bomb went off in the carriage.

“It was insane. To get to my job, I use the N train each morning. From 59th Street to 36th Street, the N-train is express, is where all the dramatics happened.

“I’m the third train of the express N.” Just two minutes after we reached the 36th street platform, the smoke grenade went off. It was moving towards. It was almost as if everything had been planned.

“This smoke bomb and fireworks I mistakenly thought were fireworks. But, I hear it as gunshots. There are no words to describe what I saw. The car was my car. I was at the front of the third vehicle. Everything happened at the back end.

“People moved to the front seat of their cars.” I don’t know if people know this, it’s one of those old things where they locked the door to stop people traveling between trains.

‘There were people in the other car who saw what was happening and they tried to open it but couldn’t. It was stained with blood.

“At that time, it didn’t seem like a shooting. It sounds like fireworks.

People tripping over one another, trying to conquer the other. He stated that the train was moving to the next stop, and everyone filed off.

NYPD officers are currently searching the subway tunnels of the city for the gunman. It is believed that he may have fled from the tracks near 36th Street.

Cemil Toseglu runs a shop opposite the station and told of how his 17-year old daughter, terrified, was riding the train to school, when it was attacked.

DailyMail.com received this statement from him: “My daughter was walking to school, and she was also on that train at the time it happened.” The smoke was overwhelming, and the train operator told her to go on.

“She is now safe, and she came to me before I sent her home. The woman is doing well, but she’s still a bit surprised. It wasn’t serious, but I was not surprised when she said it.
