Doctor Who productions have suggested that another woman will serve as the next Time Lord.
Production notes for the next series of the BBC’s sci-fi show suggest a female will be starring yet again as It’s A Sin’s Lydia West is widely tipped to take over, The Mirror reports.
Current Time Lord Jodie Whittaker’s role comes to an end this autumn with a regeneration episode after she became the first ever female Doctor in 2017.

Rumours: Doctor Who producers have hinted that the next Time Lord will be a woman, according to a new report (pictured is current star Jodie Whittaker)
Production Weekly, an entertainment industry publication, lists these new episodes: “A fantasy action saga about a mysterious alien time traveller, Doctor Who,” which features Doctor Who picking up human companions. She faces villainous foes using her wits and a sonic screwscredriver, and then journeys through time and space with a police telephone booth named the TARDIS.
Jodie has recently requested that another woman doctor take the role.
Radio 1’s Vick Hope & Jordan North heard her say that she would choose Lydia West as an actress if they had the option. It would be a great honor to have the power.

Could that be you? According to The Mirror production notes, the BBC’s next sci-fi series will feature a female star. Lydia West (pictured) has been rumored to be the one who takes over.
Coral is betting on Lydia as the favourite to succeed Jodie. Omari Douglas (5-1 odds) and Fisayo Akinade (both 5-1), are second and third respectively. Olly Alexander follows at 6-1.
Jodie also discussed her emotional last days of filming on Doctor Who.
Entertainment Weekly spoke out about how the actress was feeling ‘griefridden’ during filming.
The final scenes of the episode’s autumn episodes were filmed by her at the end 2021. She said about the experience, “I’ve shot mine version of regen.”[eration]It was one of the most emotionally charged days on set that I have ever experienced.

Icon: Jodie is now the last Time Lord of Time in this regeneration episode.
Jodie previously stated that Jodie is quitting the role because it requires ‘new energy.’ But the actress also admitted that she’s not sure she’s making the right decision.
Jodie admitted then to the publication it was strange that she was sad for her decision to move.
She stated, “It is a very strange feeling. Because it’s one of the best times I have ever had at work. And I made the decision that I would leave the job. So it’s quite strange to make such a drastic change.”
She went on: ‘It was a wonderfully-celebratory-slash-grief-ridden day that I could spend with the family that I’d made. It’s still on, which I think is the best part about it. So, until the episodes are off I don’t really have to think about it.
The show’s New Years Day special Eve Of The Daleks saw fans enjoy a New Year’s Day episode in which the Doctor is trapped in a frightening ‘time loop,’ where she constantly dies but then returns to life.
Before the autumn episode airs, there will be a special episode in spring 2022 called Legend of the Sea Devils.
This final episode is part of celebrations for the BBC’s 100th anniversary.
Jodie shared her opinion that Jodie would be open to returning to the role and acknowledged that you can’t always leave the job you have been given.
MailOnline reached out the BBC to get their opinion.
