Martin Johnson, 53 years old, was a security officer and witnessed the altercation while recording the performance.

‘We all had our phones out ready to record the show but I noticed a man arguing with two women,’ Martin, who was on his lunch break at the time.

“The fight escalated quickly.

One of the girls took offense to the man getting close to her daughter’s young girl. After numerous warnings she attempted to grab him, but he continued to throw his drink at her.

“He got up and tried to strike back, but there were about four to five women in the way. So instead of retaliating, he kicked it into the fire runner’s ring.

“But, the fiery rings fell on him while the crowd gasped in horror and screamed.

The flame runner looks on in terror and rushes over to ensure that the fire ring is out.

Leicestershire Police said they were not called to the incident but that shortly before 6.30pm they received a call from a man stating he had been assaulted.

The man was found by officers and was taken to his home.
