Tripadvisor’s 2022 Travellers Choice Awards has ranked Dubai as the top-rated international destination.
Tripadvisor reviews of accommodations and restaurants in the world’s top destinations were used to determine the winners.
London has been voted Europe’s number-one destination and is second overall. Cancun (Mexico) comes in third, Bali (Indonesia), fourth, and Crete, Greece fifth. Las Vegas ranks 25th in America as the most visited destination.

The 25th most popular American destination according to Tripadvisor is Las Vegas.
The top 10 most visited destinations include Rome, Mexico’s Cabo San Lucas (seventh), Istanbul, Turkey (eighth), Paris (10th), Hurghada in Egypt (10th).
Oahu is second, Maui third, Key West fourth and Key West fifth in US rankings. Savannah (7th), Savannah (6th), New Orleans (6th), Savannah (7th), Miami Beach (8th), Nashville (9th), Sedona (10th) are the next four.
Barcelona is sixth, Tenerife (seventh), Corsica (7th), Corsica (18th), Edinburgh (ninth), and Florence (10th).

Majorca, Spain is the top-rated destination on Tripadvisor’s list of “Trending Destinations”, which are locations that have seen the most year-over-year growth in Tripadvisor reviews and ratings.
Tripadvisor reports: ‘This stunning island is home to picturesque beaches, family-friendly beaches and magnificent Moorish architecture. It’s set to grow in popularity as tourists from around the globe flock to Majorcan to experience it. Brits interested in a trip to Majorcan should plan their 2022 vacation early to ensure they do not miss out.
There are also Rhodes in Greece, Cairo and Tulum in Mexico in the rest of the top 10.
Tripadvisor has Majorca (pictured) as the top trending destination. It is described by Tripadvisor as an “gorgeous island with idyllic seaside coves and children-friendly beaches, grandiose Moorish architectural architecture, and grandiose Moorish architecture.”
Next? Next up is the “Outdoor Enthusiasts” category which ranks all of the National Parks in the world. The top spot is taken by Arenal Volcano National Park, Costa Rica.
Tripadvisor described it as “one the top Costa Rican hiking destinations”: “Arenal Volcano National Park provides a number of trails that run through an old volcano and rich in wildlife, all of which are anchored by one other of the largest active volcanoes on earth.”
India’s Jim Corbett National Park ranks second. It is followed by Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park (third), Kenya’s Maasai Mara National Reserve, and South Africa’s Kruger National Park (fifth).
Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano National Park is the most prestigious national park. It was named the best in 2022.

UK national parks are performing well. New Forest National Park, Hampshire, ranks 10th worldwide and first in Europe. Snowdonia National Park, Wales is 11th and number 2 in Europe.
Both of them rank higher than global giants like Banff National Park, Canada (12th worldwide), Grand Canyon National Park USA (15th global) and Iceland’s Vatnajokull National Park (19th global).
The awards also recognized other UK parks, including Derbyshire’s Peak District National Park (Devon) and Dartmoor National Park (Devon), which placed sixth and seventh respectively in Europe.
Fiordland National Park, New Zealand (6th), the Denali National Park and Preserve (US (7th), Tanzania’s Kilimanjaro National Park (8th) and New Zealand’s Westland Tai Poutini National Park (9th).
According to Tripadvisor, Rome won the gold medal in the category ‘Food Lovers’. Rome is a city that ‘whets the appetites’ of travelers from all over the world with its delicious pasta dishes and irresistible gelato. This is Rome’s Trevi Fountain.

This category also sees the UK triumph – London is second in Europe and the world behind Rome. Popular choices include Paris, Dubai (fourth), Barcelona (5th), Madrid (6th), Madrid (6th), Sao Paulo (seventh), New York (8th), Bangkok (9th), and Singapore (10th).
Dubai continues to be the top choice for city lovers, according to Tripadvisor. Dubai, known for its luxury shopping, modern architecture, and vibrant nightlife is the ideal destination for city lovers.

Tripadvisor says: ‘For the many of us in need of a truly relaxing holiday, the white sand and sparkling azure waters of Cancun (pictured) are travellers’ favourite place to enjoy fun in the sun.’ It is ranked number 1 in the “Sun Seekers” category.

“There is sun, sea, and sand to be enjoyed in these destinations,” Tripadvisor states about the next category, referred to as “Sun Seekers”.
Cancun is ranked number one. The travel website noted that Cancun’s white sand beaches and sparkling waters are the best places for sun-soaked fun.

Zermatt is the number one ski resort worldwide (pictured). It’s said by Tripadvisor to be an “Alpine paradise”.
What is the most popular ski area? According to Tripadvisor Zermatt, Switzerland is the best ski area in the world. The website states that Matterhorn Glacier Paradise, a “Alpine Paradise” ski area is the number one choice for visitors.
North America dominates the Top 10: Jackson is second in USA. Park City (8th), and Breckenridge (10th) are close behind. Tripadvisor users were also impressed with Canada’s Banff (3rd), Whistler (4th), Jasper (7th).
Queenstown (New Zealand) is ranked fifth, Ortisei (Italy), sixth and ninth respectively. Chamonix, France (9th).

Tripadvisor states that 2021 was the year when travelers tried smaller escapes or outdoor trips. But 2022 looks like the year where we will be returning to the big time. Data shows that people still want to travel, despite new variations.
A survey by Travel Site found that 78% of Britons believe they will travel to leisure in 2022. This compares to 72% of the people who claimed they traveled for pleasure in 2019.
Steven Paganelli, Director, Destinations, Hotels, and OTAs, Americas, Tripadvisor, says that as the world returns from travel, priorities have changed and travelers want to experience more unforgettable experiences. Nearly three quarters (70%) of Brits agree that they need to see new places when planning for their travels in the future.
