Gareth Southgate has signed a new three-year contract as England manager that will take him beyond the next European Championships in the summer of 2024.
Southgate, the England’s most successful manager since Sir Alf Ramsey (1966) was rewarded for leading the team to the Euro 2020 finals this summer.
The 51-year-old currently earns £3m a year but his deal includes a significant increase on that figure. It is thought he will now earn in the region of £5m a year if performance bonuses are yet.

SportsmailSouthgate announced earlier in the month that they had reached an agreement in principle. It would then be made public once Qatar has been qualified for next year’s World Cup.
Southgate’s assistant Steve Holland (who has also signed a contract) will take Southgate to Qatar, and the European Championships in Germany. These events are scheduled for the summer 2024.
Southgate stated today that he was delighted with Steve’s performance in his respective roles.

Southgate plans to take Qatar one step further after this summer’s Euro 2020 loss.
Southgate was initially appointed to the England team as a temporary replacement for Sam Allardyce, who left his post in September 2016 after only one game. The contract was signed two months later.
Southgate, in his five-year career as coach, has led England to the World Cup semifinals in Russia 2018 and July’s Euros final versus Italy at Wembley.
In summer 2019, he also led England to victory in the inaugural Nations League.
