Hope Solo was a former goalkeeper for US Soccer Team. Her life off the pitch has seen her enjoy as much success, but it’s been newsworthy because of all the wrong reasons.

Solo was a member of 202 national teams from 2000 to 2016 and played a significant role in the US’s 2011 World Cup victory and two Olympic gold medals wins in 2008.

She first gained a reputation for being a party girl during the 2008-2012 period. In 2012, she admitted to having been drunk in an interview with NBC’s Today Show.

“I don’t think I should tell you, but we met some celebrities.” [prior to appearing on the Today Show in 2008],’ Solo told ESPN in 2012. “Vince Vaughn drank with us. The comedian, Steve Byrne. And at some point we decided to take the party back to the village, so we started talking to the security guards, showed off our gold medals, got their attention and snuck our group through without credentials—which is absolutely unheard of.

“I might have sneaked a famous person back into my room, without anyone knowing. And he returned out. That’s the Olympic secret. Once we finished having fun, we took off our dresses, changed into stadium coats, and went straight to the Today Show, drank. It’s no surprise that we were all a mess.

Solo was not the only one who had a good time, however. Solo received a warning letter from the US Anti-Doping Agency in 2012 after her urine tests revealed that she tested positive to the banned drug Canrenone.

Solo was still playing for the US Olympic Team that year and won gold in London.

Solo made the following statement: “I took a pre-menstrual medicine prescribed by my doctor that I didn’t know contained a Diuretic,” Solo wrote in 2012.

In November of that year, Solo’s fiancé Jerramy Stevens, a former NFL tight end, was arrested after an altercation that left her injured.

The police claimed she suffered a laceration to her arm and refused to make a statement.

The drama was not a problem, and the couple were married on the next day.

Solo was further arrested in 2014 at a suburb Seattle house on suspicion that she assaulted her half sister, 17-year-old nephew. However, Solo’s attorney insisted Solo was not a victim of the altercation.

Attorney Todd Maybrown stated that Hope was not guilty of any crime to the Associated Press. “In reality, our investigation shows that Hope was attacked and hurt during this tragic incident.”

After receiving an emergency call that the Kirkland woman was hitting people, officers responded at 1 a.m. to their sister’s house. According to police, she had refused to leave or stop.

Solo was drunk and unwell, they observed injuries on her nephew’s and sister’s faces, and then arrested her.

The lack of cooperation from witnesses led to the dismissal of charges.

Solo was in Southern California at the team training camp when Stevens was pulled over for driving under the influence. Solo was there at that time.

Later, the former Seattle Seahawks player pleaded not guilty and was sentenced for 30 days in prison and four years probation. US Soccer suspended Solo for thirty days

In 2016, Solo was expelled by the USSF for six months and had her contract terminated. Solo made the comments following Sweden’s victory over the Americans in the quarterfinals. Solo made a grievance, which was resolved.

Solo was arrested this week in North Carolina, allegedly for driving under the influence and resisting arrest. Winston-Salem Police said Solo was at the scene with her twins, aged 2 and 2, when she was arrested.
