The call by President Joe Biden for Vladimir Putin’s removal from power has raised alarm bells in US foreign policy specialists, who worry that this could increase tensions and even make it more difficult for the Kremlin to scale back its war goals in Ukraine.
Biden declared, “For God’s Sake this man cannot continue in power,” in an apparent cry for regime change in Moscow after a passionate speech in Poland.
While the Kremlin displayed fury, the White House made the unscripted remarks as it walked back from a speech in which the White House rallied support for Ukraine and opposed autocracy.
Richard Haass (Centre on Foreign Relations President) tweeted that he was concerned by Biden’s ‘expansion of US war goals, calling for regime changes’
Haass wrote that despite being desirable, we cannot accomplish it. He also warned against the risk of Putin seeing this as a fight for survival, increasing his likelihood to reject compromise or escalate or either one.
‘Our interests are to end the war on terms Ukraine can accept & to discourage Russian escalation. He stated that the current call for regime changes is not compatible with these ends.

Experts in foreign policy are raising alarm about President Joe Biden’s request that Vladimir Putin be expelled from Russia. It could lead to increased tensions, experts fear.

He said that Putin cannot stay in power for God’s sake, and described Putin as having a “craving” to be the absolute ruler.

On Saturday, a tank that was damaged in a storm is visible near Mariupol. Civilians are evacuated from Mariupol along humanitarian corridors.
Haass told Politico that an official from Biden, perhaps even Secretary of State Antony Blinken should immediately reach out to the Russian counterpart and tell them that Biden’s comments don’t represent US policy.
“The fact it was off-script at times makes it worse,” Haas stated. It could be read to indicate Biden’s true belief, rather than his scripted words.
Biden’s comment could reduce Putin’s desire to compromise, and make him more inclined to escalate in Ukraine. Haass stated that if Putin believes he can lose everything, then it will be harder for him to believe he doesn’t have anything to lose.
Prior to Biden boarding Air Force One for the return flight to Washington, his aides raced to prove that he wasn’t calling for an immediate shift in Moscow government.
The President said that Putin could not have power over its neighbors or region. A White House official stated that he was not talking about Putin’s Russian power or the possibility of regime change.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov quickly denounced Biden, saying ‘it´s not up to the president of the U.S. and not up to the Americans to decide who will remain in power in Russia.’
Biden’s outlandish alarmist comment came just 24 hours after other awkward comments from President Obama suggesting that US troops might be sent to Ukraine.
In a speech to US paratroopers in Poland on Friday, Biden said: ‘You’re going to see when you’re there – some of you have been there – you’re going to see women, young people, standing in the middle, in front of a damn tank, saying, ‘I’m not leaving’.’
Biden mentioned ‘when you are there’ as a suggestion that troops might be sent to Ukraine’s border, however the administration insists that there have been no changes in the US’s stance on the matter.

On Friday, after the President Biden made an error in his address to Polish paratroopers in Poland, the White House had to clarify that American troops were not going to Ukraine.
According to Fox News, a spokesperson for the White House stated that “The President has made clear that we will not send U.S. forces to Ukraine” and added that there was no need to change.
Biden repeatedly stated that no troops will be allowed to enter Ukraine during Putin’s invasion. He feared it would become World War Three, and turn into a long combat mission just like Afghanistan.
Biden, in his passionate speech of Saturday, drew an unambiguous line between democracy and oppression. Biden repeatedly targeted Putin, accusing him of lying, and repeatedly attacked the Russian president.
Biden spoke outdoors, in the courtyard cobbled of Warsaw’s Royal Castle, where he accused Putin of using ‘brute force and disinformation to control.
Biden stated that ‘it’s nothing but a direct challenge to the rules-based international order’.

In the days leading up to Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, President Joe Biden charged Vladimir Putin with duplicity
Biden also took cues from Arnold Schwarzenegger who made a viral video message for Russians, and directly addressed the Russian people.
“I tell you the truth. He said that this war was not right for the Russian people. Putin can and should end the war. We stand by you, the Ukrainian people who want peace and will support your efforts to end this war.
He also warned that Putin’s aggressive behavior could lead to ‘decades’ of war in Europe.
It’s a direct challenge to the World War II order and threatens Europe with decades of war, as it did before the creation of an international rule-based organization. Biden stated that we cannot return to this.
Biden moved also to ease fears of Eastern European countries. He made it very clear that NATO would remain intact and warned Russia to not expand his intrusion outside of Ukraine.
Poland and countries from the Old Eastern Bloc, like Estonia and Lativa, are afraid that Putin’s ambitions could result in their border being closed. Biden said that NATO would defend its members nations and honor Article Five. Article Five requires all states to respond if one strikes.
“Don’t think of moving one inch on NATO territory. Biden stated that we have sacred obligations.
Biden spoke of his conversations with Putin prior to Russia’s invasion last month.
Putin said that he repeatedly stated that he did not want to be involved in war and that he was certain he wouldn’t move.
“Russia’s decision to go to war is not justified or provoked.

Biden takes the podium to address the Royal Castle of Warsaw.

Air Force One is being flown by President Joe Biden, returning to Washington D.C.

Andrzej Duda, Polish president, listens to President Joe Biden deliver a speech at the Royal Castle about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
However, Russia and Putin met all of their proposals with disinterest. He stated that Russia had been bent on violence since the beginning.
After many days of diplomatic meetings and quiet talks with Brussels powerbrokers, the White House set up a speech in which Biden could talk in general terms about what was at stake as allies and the U.S. rush to arm Ukraine.
Biden said the war has been ‘a strategic failure for Russia already’ – alluding to its battlefield losses.
Putin believed that Ukrainians would surrender and cease fighting. He is not a historian. He said that instead, Russian forces had met their match. His speech included references to Pope John Paul II and the besiegement of Stalingrad.
Biden claimed that, in spite of Putin’s goals, the west was not stronger nor more united than before. He referred to the international reaction.
Biden stated that the democracies around the globe are being revitalized.

Listen as President Joe Biden addresses the nation about Russian invading Ukraine
He said that Russia is suffering from a “remarkable brain-drain”, with over 200,000 people leaving Russia in one month.
He said that ‘We must now commit to the fight for long-term,’ speaking on behalf of a country which has been trying to arm Ukraine and housing over 2 million refugees.
His words were punctuated and he encouraged the crowd to never be discouraged. He said, “Do not be afraid.”
He vowed that Ukraine would never become a Russian victory. He said that ‘For God’s sake, this person cannot stay in power’, coming on the heels of Russia’s new missiles being launched at Lviv, western Ukraine.
Biden began and ended his remarks with a quote from the first Polish pope, Pope John Paul II, telling people: ‘Be not afraid.’
Biden had previously attacked Putin personally, calling him a war crime and declaring that he does not have a soul.
Earlier Saturday, he called Putin a ‘butcher’ after holding emotional conversations with Ukrainian refugees – including a pair who fled the horror of the siege at Mariupol.
‘He’s a butcher,’ Biden said when asked what he thought of Putin after what he has done to the people he was meeting.
Biden fell down stairs while boarding Air Force One at Joint Base Andrews, March 19.
In the clip, Biden stumbles as he walks up the airstairs. To balance himself, he grabs at the handrail but then loses his footing twice more.
The third time he stumbles, he finally falls to the ground. After rubbing his legs, he climbs to the top of the plane, giving a salute, and then disappears inside.
Later, White House deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Biden was “100% fine” and that he was getting ready for Atlanta.
“It is very windy outside. It’s extremely windy. She said that she almost fell when she climbed up the steps.

One day prior, he called Vice President Kamala Harris ‘President Harris.’
Biden had mistakenly called Kamala Harris, Vice President Kamala Harris, President Harris one day prior.
The gaffe was made during a March 18 press conference, during which he celebrated his administration’s closeness to achieving their 100 million COVID-19 vaccination doses within his first 100 days of office.
Biden explained that President Harris gave him a tour of an Arizona vaccine center. The nurse who administered the shots to patients said that every shot felt like giving hope.
Harris stood behind Biden while he continued his speech. However, Harris did not make any corrections.
Later that day, when the White House released the transcript of his speech, Harris’s proper title was inserted with brackets.

While giving a speech on March 9, Biden appeared to have forgotten the name Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin (above).
Biden, in a March 9 speech seemed to lose control of his words and forgot the name Lloyd Austin is Secretary of Defense
Biden stated, “I would like to express my gratitude for Sec. – The former general. I continue calling him General.”
“My” – The guy running that clothing over there. We want to thank Secretary, for everything he did to help us implement the ideas we have just discussed and for suggesting these women to be promoted. Even though he mentioned Austin’s name just moments earlier without any issue, the slip occurred.

Biden, on November’s Election Day introduced a large crowd to his grand-daughter, but called her his son.
Biden, during an election day speech in Philadelphia, stumbled and misunderstood his words.
Biden told the crowd: ‘I want to introduce you to two of my granddaughters…this is my son, Beau Biden who a lot of you helped elect to the Senate in Delaware.’
Although the commander-in chief had intended to introduce the crowd to Natalie Beau’s child, he didn’t just mix up the name and the person. He also wrapped his arms around Finnegan Biden Hunter’s little girl.
He finally corrected his self as he wrapped his arm around Natalie’s shoulder, saying: “This is Natalie. This is Beau’s child.”
Beau Biden, one of most deadly types of brain cancers, died in 2015.
TO THE STATE SENATOR OF WHEELCHAIR: STAND UP

Biden, then-Senator of Missouri, told Chuck Graham in 2008 to support the rally crowd. He soon realized that he was disabled and couldn’t stand for it.
Biden made many gaffes in his time, but not all. Some of these gaffes were actually made in the early aughts.
After Biden was named as former President Barack Obama’s running mate in September 2008, Biden attended a Missouri campaign rally.
He called upon Chuck Graham (then-Missouri senator), who died last year. to defend the crowd.
“I believe Chuck Graham is the state senator.” Biden said, “Stand up Chuck.
Graham realized that he was in a wheelchair because of muscular dystrophy at the moment.
“Oh God loves you.” This is what I’m talking about. What can I say? You are making every other person stand up.
According to the Columbia Tribune, Graham said he was never offended by the mistake.
