Plymouth father is angry after seeing his daughter put in isolation for wearing ‘too tight’ trousers.

The little girl was in her last year at Scott Medical and Healthcare College.

Last week, the father sent his student to school with long socks. However, the daughter of the student called and said that she was being kept in isolation with other students who had the same problem.

The school stated that all students should present themselves in-line with school policies to ensure the correct uniform is worn, and offered them a £20 voucher to purchase new trousers.

The dad slammed the school for the policy, and added that while the school did offer her a pair to wear, they were 'pornographic' and even tighter around the crotch

He criticized the school for its policy and stated that the school had offered her a pair, but they were pornographic and tighter around her crotch.

The dad, however, criticized the school and said that although she was offered a pair of shoes to wear by the school, the pants were too tight around her crotch and ‘pornographic.

Unnamed student’s dad stated that college policy requires that pants touch the sole of the shoe, and pupils should not show their ankles.

Following the Christmas break she went back to school. She received a warning that her trousers were too small.

His father sent his daughter Monday morning with her longer socks. She called back to tell him that the problem had occurred and she’d been placed in isolation with other students.

PlymouthLive received an email from the father stating that: “The school sent out an email before Christmas describing the policy. The drive will ensure all trousers comply with this policy. And if there are any trousers for sale, you should get them.

‘I’ve always taken my children to September. If the set rips or tears I will then buy another one for next year.

“We bought two pair of trousers for our daughter in September. She loved them so much that she wore them to school every day.” These trousers are what I call fitted. They have been worn by her since September.

According to the student’s father, he was called by a staff member telling him that his daughter’s pants were too short and that there are trousers available at college.

The dad tried the pants on, believing they are men’s. However, the tightness at the crotch made them unsuitable for the daughter.

Dad said that he told his daughter to put on the trousers because college has an option. After an hour, she called again to inform me that the problem was not the size but the tightness of her trousers.

The girl, who is in her final year of her GCSEs at Scott Medical and Healthcare College, was wearing the school trousers with loafer shoes and ankle trainer socks which did not expose her ankle even 'three quarters of an inch'

This girl is finishing her GCSEs at Scott Medical and Healthcare College. She was wearing school pants with ankle trainer socks and loafer shoes.

“She tried on some pants for my daughter and told me that they were too tight, but that it was okay.

I asked my daughter for a photo and she agreed. It would have to show more than it did.

I told my daughter that she should take the pants off, and she had to put on her own trousers. She was then told she could be isolated and she wouldn’t get her education.

“Bearing in Mind that she’s in her final year of high school, she only has four or five more months to go before she sits for her exams. I was absolutely furious.”

He went to school to speak to the teacher, and when he saw the pants offered to his daughter, he realized they were male trousers.

They replied to his question about the interruption of his daughter’s education by saying that they have textbooks for students.

He said that he had spoken to someone at Greenshaw Trust and advised him that trousers of any length can not be made because of their ability to grow over a period of several months. For that reason, you cannot exclude children.

I said that skin tight trousers were the same as what skinheads would wear in the eighties. And my daughter’s pants are more fitted than skin tight trousers. It wasn’t the thing they wanted.

Scott Medical and Healthcare College spokesperson Will Smith is also the CEO of Greenshaw Learning Trust. He stated: “Our expectation is for all students to present themselves in line with school policies and Scott College provides support to students and parents to ensure that the right uniform is worn.

“If parents or students have any questions about our policies, they can contact us.”

When he asked about his daughter's education being interrupted, they said students have textbooks to go through

According to the policy, trousers must be smart and professional. You should wear trousers that are not too close to your skin, such as no tight pants, jeans or leggings, and the length of the shoe must be at the top.

The staff member at Greenshaw Trust asked him why he hadn’t visited him in September to discuss the tightness of his daughters trousers. He said he was able to accept it and would have purchased a new pair of pants with the receipt.

But they have informed him five months, a third into the school year the trousers are skin tight.

The school offered the dad, along with other parents, a £20 voucher to purchase new trousers that are better suited for the policy – which the dad believes to be a good thing.

However, his daughter couldn’t find any school trousers that fit.

The school's policy states trousers should be of a smart, office like appearance. No skin tight trousers, no jeans, no leggings and they should reach the top of the shoes

According to school policy, trousers must be smart and professional. They should not be too tight, or they will fall to the bottom of your shoes.

He stated that nothing existed and purchased primary school trousers from a supermarket for his daughter.

He said, “I don’t get why they kept them isolated for that purpose, because they’re losing out on education, and it’s been scarce enough due to Covid,” he continued.

“What’s more, I don’t understand why you put a student out education for a pair of pants over a policy that is incorrect.

“It must be accompanied by a clear picture of their goals and their expectations in regards to the trouser policy. This is not about rights and wrongs. It’s about my girl’s education, who wants to learn.
