A prison CCTV video shows an Argentinian judge kissing a convicted police officer-killer she was trying to spare from a death sentence.

Mariel Suarez, a judge in southern Chubut province, was filmed kissing Cristian ‘Mai’ Bustos in jail near the city of Trelew on the afternoon of December 29.

Just a week earlier, Suarez had sat on a panel of judges deciding whether Bustos should be given life in jail for killing officer Leandro ‘Tito’ Roberts back in 2009.

Suarez, the sole judge of the panel that voted against the life sentence was Suarez. He was told Bustos was dangerous and dangerous.

Bustos was sent to prison for a full-life sentence. His dissent did not save him.

Now Suarez is also under investigation by the Superior Court of Chubut for ‘inadequate behaviour’, and is facing possible sanctions.

Bustos was convicted of the shooting death in Corcovado in 2009 by Leandro Robles, a police officer. Roberts was trying to stop Bustos’s earlier escape from prison.

The gunfight also claimed the death of a brother of the man convicted and the injury to a second officer.

Suarez, left (left), had just voted against Bustos’ imprisonment for life a week prior to the footage being taken. He was also sitting on a committee that decided his sentence.

Bustos was found guilty of murder and handed a lifetime sentence.

In a statement, the Superior Court of Chubut stated that “the judge allegedly engaged in insufficient behaviour.”

“The investigation will investigate the circumstances surrounding the meeting of that judge with an inmate, who was regarded as extremely dangerous after a trial in Esquel.

“It will look at the length of the meeting and its characteristics to confirm whether violations of the Law of Public Ethics or internal judicial authority regulations were committed.
