Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter Flora  Ogilvy has revealed she is ‘thrilled’ to have landed the new role of Ambassador of the V&A Museum’s Young Patrons’ Circle.

The low-key royal, 26, who lives and works in London, recently hit the headlines when she married her Swedish beau Timothy Vesterberg, 26, in a ceremony attended by Prince Edward and the Countess of Wessex at St. James’s Palace. 

Flora, who balances her royal duties, including joining the royal family on the balcony at Buckingham Palace at Trooping The Colour each year, with work as an art consultant, told Tatler she will ‘focus on education and outreach’ in the new role.

She said: ‘During my master’s degree at The Courtauld Institute of Art, The National Art Library of the Victoria & Albert Museum was very inspiring.’

Meanwhile  Euthymia Procopé, Senior Manager of the Young Patrons’ Circle, said they are ‘delighted’ that Flora would be representing the team. 

She added:  ‘With her incredible energy, charm and outreach, we are confident she will bring added vibrancy to our lively group of budding philanthropists.’

The V&A’s Young Patrons’ Circle was recently launched and brings together a ‘dynamic new group for art and design enthusiasts who share a passion for the designed world and a love for the V&A’.

According to its website, the ‘vibrant network’ of individuals will enjoy ‘behind-the-scenes access at the V&A through curator-led tours, fashion shows, visits to artists’ and designers’ studios and private collections, and invitations to selected private views and exclusive social events.’

Flora is a royalist who also works as an art consultant. Tatler reported that Flora will now ‘focus in education and outreach’ for her new role.

Membership starts at an annual contribution of £1,000, comprising £400 to cover membership benefits and a voluntary donation of £600 eligible for Gift Aid.  

The news comes days after Flora shared a glimpse into her wedding to beau Timothy online.  

Flora originally tied the knot with the Swedish financier, 27, in September 2020 with the couple exchanging vows in a private ceremony at St James’s Palace amidst strict Covid restrictions. 

However, the couple were joined at St James by family and friends in September when their marriage was blessed.

Flora uploaded two new snaps to Instagram last week. Flora wrote: “So grateful” as she and Marina Windsor walked down the aisle.

The bride can be seen cuddling up to Timothy in another black-andwhite photograph.

Flora wore a gorgeous white lace bridal Phillipa Lepley gown with pearl details and a tiara. She also held a small arrangement. Her husband later joined her under an archway decorated with white roses. 

Later on, guests arrived at Claridge’s London Hotel where they were able to see them gathering in a bar and enjoying a Swedish toast to the groom and bride.

Flora posted photos of her day last year after she married Timothy in a simple ceremony within Covid-19. 

The couple was restricted by Covid regulations to allow only a few family members and close friends to attend the wedding.  

Flora shared the news in September 2020 via an Instagram post, in which she stated that the couple was truly happy and looking forward to next year’s celebrations.

Born in Edinburgh, Flora grew up in a 1780s country house on Scotland’s East coast, before her parents moved to Nantucket, where they now live.

Flora has been a fan of the beautiful blonde Swede since May 2013, when he was an ex-professional ice hockey player in Sweden. 

According to some reports, the couple had a brief romance following their meeting. They announced their engagement on November 19, 2019. 

On Instagram, she shared news about her engagement and wrote: “We’re engaged!” He asked my beloved Timothy to marry me and I am blissfully happy.
