France sees 208,000 Covid cases in 24 hours – Europe’s highest-ever daily tally

France recorded 220,000 new Covid cases in 24 hours. This is the most recent in Europe during the pandemic.

Olivier Veran the Health Minister warned lawmakers about the tsunami of cases. It broke France’s previous record, which was 180,000 infected.

Veran stated that every second two French citizens test positive for COVID-19.

He stated that Omicron is still not having an effect on the hospital situation.

He said that the flu would further complicate matters for hospitals.

The global COVID-19 infection rate has reached a new record in the last seven days according to Reuters data. This was due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, which kept many people at home and overwhelmed testing centers.
