Furious parents have slammed a £10 ‘Winter Wonderland extravaganza’ in Norwich with a £14.50-a-ticket ice rink made of plastic mats sprayed with water and ‘two rides for toddlers’.

It is held at the Carrow Road stadium of Norwich Football Club.

But, the club had to apologize for the ‘disappointed visitors’ who described it as ‘horrendous’ and ‘an absolutely waste of money.

Tickets for the small market cost adults £10, with further charges for children wanting to use either of the two small rides on offer.

A ticket to use the ‘ice rink’, simply plastic mats that had been sprayed with water, cost an additional £14.50 for adults and £8.50 for under 18s.

Sarah Purton was present at the event and described it as “a small rectangle of plastic”.

She said in a Facebook post: ‘A handful of food stalls, two small rides aimed at toddlers costing £2.50 a go and a tiny rectangle of plastic that’s supposedly an ice rink?

“Festive Fair” is not a gathering of Christmas trees that aren’t bare behind metal barriers.

The event marketed itself as offering a ‘range of attractions’ across a ‘three-day extravaganza’, with entry to the event £10 for adults, £5 for those aged 13 to 17 and under 12s allowed free entry.

There were only four food-and-beverage vans at the market, as well as two smaller rides (a char-oplane and an aerial carousel) which could be used for an additional fee.

Two reindeer also accompanied Father Christmas to the delight of those who were there.

However, many people expressed dismay on social media.

The aerial carousel was one of just two small rides on offer for children and could only be used at an additional cost of £2.50

Chris Padreddii tweets: “Carrow Road Christmas Fair…What a joke!” The trees were just dumped and there was no decoration. You don’t need to waste money or time.

Ben Seager said: “Not too impressed that the especially dismal Christmas Fair at the Carrow Road Carpark is still being held, and we have another couple days of it. My house vibrates from the sound of music.

Norwich City Football Club’s spokesperson apologized for those that were unhappy with the outcome.

The statement stated that the club had received feedback from Carrow Road regarding the Festive Fair.

“Unfortunately some of the Christmas stalls booked and the activity areas cancelled at last notice. The club apologizes to anyone who was disappointed by the icerink.

“All members who raised a complaint or issue with the club were contacted.”
