Jasmine Dagless (19 years), from Norwich, was nicknamed ‘flat pack by bullies’ after her name was at birth.
The teenager, who has only visited Ikea once, had to put up with years of teasing before legally changing her name when she was aged 12 in 2014.
“I was called flatpack quite often in primary school,” she said. Because young children aren’t familiar with Ikea, the bullying was really shocking to me.
Jasmine Dagless (19 years), from Norwich, was nicknamed ‘flat pack by bullies’ after her mother Linda (both photos) gave her the name Ikea.
After only visiting Ikea once as a teenager, she had to bear years of taunting before changing her legal name at 12 in 2014.
“I legally changed my last name while I was at secondary school. Jasmine is the only legal way I can be called. My family calls me Ikea or “Kea” for short.
Jasmine is an NHS administrative assistant and said that her mother accepted the name change, despite her family receiving perks from Ikea following her birth.
Her mother said that she received a letter about Ikea from her mom when I was younger, which basically stated that furniture and toys could be obtained for no cost.
“I bought a couple of toys, and my mom got me a couch.”
Jasmine (pictured here with dad Bradley) stated that “I was called flat pack quite often at primary school.” I was shocked by the bullying because it is not something that young children know about Ikea.
Jasmine has chosen her father’s middle name as her forename, but she is keeping Ikea as her middle.
The store has remained loyal and she furnished her apartment with a brand-name six-drawer commode. She is also considering purchasing a built in wardrobe.
Jasmine indicated that she wants to make a nostalgic trip to her Ikea.
She said, “I visited Ikea as a child but I don’t remember much about it now. However, when I was a kid I went there.
