Gugu Mabatha-Raw said she is honoured to play the role Meghan Markle for The Crown.
Tatler spoke with the 38-year old actress and said she would ‘consider’ the chance if presented, but no formal casting decision has yet been made.

Asked how she would feel if she was offered the role after fans tipped her for the part, she exclaimed: ‘Oh my God, that’s hilarious. I would feel very honored.
Although she’s never met Prince Harry or Meghan, she said that she is sympathetic to them.
She stated, “I wish them luck.” It is difficult to transition.
She explained that she was charmed by America’s Royal Family in America.
Beauty: Gugu was stunning for the Tatler’s cover shoot. She wore a black sheer dress and then changed into a Grecian backless gown.
“It kind of feels like an American fairy tale from an American perspective. This is not an easy lifestyle. It’s not easy, and I don’t think we know all the details. However, I do respect it,” she said.
Gugu will next be seen in the new BBC One psychological thriller, The Girl Before, which follows Jane who gets the chance to move into an ultra minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect (David Oyelowo).
Gugu said that her role was a fascinating combination of style, substance and elegance. I found the mystery fascinating, and it allowed me to come back to the UK, after having been away from the UK for some time. [in the US during the pandemic].

“She is driven and ambitious. She likely shares my drive and ambition. [But]Jane seems very reserved to me. I find I am much lighter and more carefree.
Mbatha – Raw was awarded an MBE in 2018 to recognize her contributions to theatre. This she discovered after a letter arrived at Witney’s mother.
She said, “It was stamped with some royal seal on it.” My mum laughed at me, and I recall saying, “Oh, it’s likely the damehood.” It was shocking when I first opened it. It was a surprise for my mum.

Surprised, Doctor Who was the name that Prince William mentioned to her when he made her an MBE.
Gugu said, “Oh my god, is Prince Charles an Whovian?” Gugu stated that he visited the set.
