Gaspard Ulliel (French actor) suffered so severe a blow to his head while skiing on Tuesday, that even though he was wearing a helmet, investigators discovered.
Ulliel collided with a second skier. This was a Lithuanian citizen in his forties who testified to the Savoie investigators just two days later.
According to Le Parisien, the collision could have unbalanced actor but wasn’t particularly violent. Investigators heard this in an over-hour long interview.
Ulliel was likely to have hit the ground with full speed, inflicting a fatal head injury.

Experts say the impact with the ground could have proved fatal, whether the helmet was worn or not.
Ulliel sustained severe head trauma. He was transported by helicopter immediately to Grenoble hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Michael Schumacher was treated in the same clinic when he suffered his ski crash head injury, according to Bild.
Second skier was not seriously injured in the accident and was also wearing a helmet.
The weather conditions at the time were favorable, according to Mountain Investigators.
‘Conditions were good, and not dangerous. A witness who witnessed the tragedy said that other people were not wearing helmets while on the piste.
Anne Gaches (Albertville Prosecutor) stated Wednesday that Ulliel was dead at 4pm, following unsuccessful attempts to revive him at the University Hospital of Grenoble.
Ms Gaches said in a statement: ‘Yesterday, January 18, 2022, at 4 p.m., in Montvalezan, on the ski area of the resort of La Rosière located in the Haute Tarentaise Massif, Mr. Gaspard Ulliel collided with another skier on the top of the blue run called Tetras.
‘He had just branched off to the left, presumably to join his friends who were on the Gellinotte run.
‘A judicial investigation was immediately entrusted to investigators from the CRS (Republican Security Company), Albertville detachment, by the Albertville prosecution.
‘It appears from the first testimonies and the observations made on the spot that the two skiers both fell to the ground,’ Mr Gaches continued.
“When the help arrived Mr. Gaspard Ulliel had fallen asleep in the snow and was still motionless. Other skiers were unharmed.
‘Transported by helicopter to the University Hospital of Grenoble, the death of Mr. Gaspard Ulliel was declared this day shortly after 4pm by the doctor of the intensive care unit of this hospital.’
In a statement that his agent gave to AFP, the family of the deceased confirmed their death. The authorities launched an investigation shortly thereafter.
Ulliel was awarded a Cesar – the French equivalent of an Oscar — for It’s Only the End of the World, in which he starred with Marion Cotillard & Lea Seydoux.
Following his role in A Very Long Engagement in World War I, which starred alongside Audrey Tautou, He was already awarded a Cesar 2004 award for most promising actor.

Thierry Fremaux, director of Cannes Film Festival said that Gaspard was part of a new generation acting in French Cinema.
“He was equally bright and talented. His generosity was extraordinary and we will forever remember him.
Variety was also informed by a Disney spokesperson: “We are deeply sorry to hear of the tragic death of our friend, colleague Gaspard Ulliel.
“Our thoughts and condolences are with the family of this man during this very difficult time.”
Roselyne Bachelot (France’s Culture Minister) added that he was “a great actor, who was reaped at the sickle and death in the best days of his career.”

Ulliel is pictured in Chanel’s advertisement. Ulliel was born to a stylist mom and father, and suffered a slight scar from being bitten by a dog when he was a kid.

This accident brought back memories of Michael Schumacher, the Formula One driver and champion of Formula One, who was killed in a skiing accident at Meribel in France in 2013. It happened about 30 miles away from Ulliel’s ski area.
Both patients were seen at Grenoble University Hospital.
