An accused ‘hitman’ in the murder of the brother of Real Housewives of Cheshire’ star says he was ordered to fly to London by his Swedish crime boss cousin. He had no clue about a crime, according to a court.

Flamur ‘Alex’ Beqiri, 36, whose sister Misse Beqiri appeared in Real Housewives Of Cheshire, was shot in front of his wife and two-year-old son on the doorstep of his £1.5m family home in Battersea, southwest London.

Southwark Crown Court heard that Ahmed Karaer (a Swedish crime boss) orchestrated the attack. Since then, Karaer has disappeared.

Anis Fouad, 24, a gunman, and his Swedish compatriots Bawer Karer, 23; Tobias Andersson 32; Estevan Munizaga 35, both deny the murder of the father-of-2 on December 24, 2019.

Clifford Rollox (31) and Claude Isaac–Castor (22), deny perverting the course justice between the 24th and 28th December 2019.

Bawer Karaer, who testified today in evidence, said that on December 23, 2019, he received an unexpected message from his crime boss cousin Ahmed directing him to go to London the following day.

The man claimed that his cousin had asked him to travel to the UK in order to help with a burglary, which he rejected immediately.

Bawer said, “I told him that I was not comfortable with this.” Bawer stated, “I don’t participate in crimes such as that.” He was aware of that but said, “Think about it.”

Ahmed called his cousin later that afternoon and informed him that he’d already purchased plane tickets.

Bawer stated that he saw his cousin Ahmed as an older brother and looked up at him.

Prosecutor Mark Heywood (QC) stated that he had evidence to prove that he was involved with serious crimes.

“Had you been suggested by him before?”

Bawer answered, “Not in the actions of his.” He didn’t tell me about these actions. Although I was aware that he was being held in prison, I believed it to be about fighting.

The jurors were told that the cousins met regularly and kept in touch. However, Ahmed hadn’t spoken of criminal activity before.

According to Mr Heywood, “If you believe what you are saying, this murder is the first instance of this kind of deceit.”

Bawer answered, “Yes,”

Bawer stated that he did not feel threatened by his cousin and felt pressured.

This is the doorstep of Mr Beqiri’s Battersea home, in southwest London. It was here that the shooting occurred on Christmas Eve 2019.

He replied, “I was not strong enough to consent.” I didn’t even know there had been a crime.

According to Mr Heywood, ‘I suggest that you tell the jury a series of lies. This had been discussed many days ago and that you were aware what was about to occur.

“I have told you all I know. I was as truthful as possible.

Bawer said, “I am not worthy of this. My mum and dad are not deserving this. I am not my cousin.”

His cousin said he’d help him in London burglary but he didn’t specify what Bawer’s role was.

Herr Heywood asked him: “Is it your experience that people should know the consequences of making decisions, particularly unusual ones?”

“I’d like to find out what happened,” replied the defendant. I trusted my cousin. It was a mistake. That is why I’m here today.

When he was asked about the Encrochat phone he had, a man in his place denied knowing of its secure features.

Five Swedes, as well as Rollox from the UK appeared in court. A Swedish interpreter supported the proceedings.

Hemissi, PinoMunizaga and Karaer are both from Malmo in Sweden. Karaer is also from Stockholm. Andersson is from Trangsund.

Hemissi denies possessing a prohibited firearm with regard to a selfloading pistol.

Rollox of Percival Street in Islington and Isaac-Castor of no fixed address deny perverting justice’s course.

The trial is continuing.
