If you have ever attempted to sell your home, then you know how difficult it can be.
And it seems that’s true whether you’re selling a semi in Hampshire or a mega-mansion in Hollywood. There is no shortage of famous faces who have had to slash their asking price to find a buyer — with some yet to succeed.
Here, we look at the discount divas — and how low they have had to go…
SYLVESTER STALLONE – Starting price £81million reduced to £42million

Sylvester Stallone initially listed the property for $110million, but then dropped the price to $80million. Adele seems to have bargained a substantial discount

Adele, 33, has just snapped up a Beverly Hills mansion from actor Sylvester Stallone, 75, for almost half price — £42million, down from the original asking price of £81million last January, a 48 per cent drop.
The living area is 21,000 sq. feet and includes eight bedrooms as well as 12 bathrooms.
Other special features include 3.47 acres land, theatre and library, 2 bedrooms guest house, infinity pool, custom bar, art studio, and cigar room.
ROBBIE WILLIAMS – Starting price £8.1million reduced to £6.75million

Robbie Williams (47), quietly moved into a large house near Lake Geneva, Switzerland in the last year.
He has now put his seven-bedroom house in Wiltshire up for sale for £6.75million.
The complex includes an indoor pool measuring 73ft long, a helicopter pad, and a 17-acre grass pitch for football. A leisure complex includes a sauna and two flats, as well as a cottage for staff.
The palatial home in Compton Bassett has been on and off the market since 2010 and was previously marketed at £8.1million.
It is now a 17% drop in price. The singer doesn’t seem to have ever loved the place — first putting it up for sale around a year after buying it. Robbie also lives in a London house right next to Jimmy Page (the subject of several planning disputes), as well as in a Los Angeles home.
If he sells for £6.75million he will lose more than £1million on the price he paid for it in 2008.
NOEL GALLAGHER – Starting price £11.5million reduced to £8million

Noel Gallagher of Oasis, now 54, has struggled to market his beautiful Grade II-listed house in Little Venice (North London) for the past four years. This was after leaving London with his two children and wife.
The six-bedroom house, with three bathrooms, three reception rooms and a large basement gym was initially marketed at £11.5million in 2016.
It was eventually sold in September 2020 for £8million — a 30 per cent drop — the price Gallagher and wife Sara MacDonald paid for it more than a decade previously.
MATT DAMON – Starting price £15.6million reduced to £13.3million

It measures 13,508 feet and has seven bedrooms, and 10 baths.

Actor Matt Damon, 51, wife Luciana and their three children have relocated to a penthouse in Brooklyn Heights, New York

It has seven bedrooms and staff quarters.
It was initially listed for £15.6million but after a year sold for £13.3million after a 15 per cent drop

Johnny Depp (58) is well-known for his chaotic money management.
In 2020, during his libel action, he told the High Court that he discovered in 2016 he had ‘lost’ a fortune equivalent to £482million and was advised he was ‘$100million [£74million] in the hole’ because he had not paid his taxes for 17 years.
Around that time he listed his estate in the South of France for a reported £46million. This village includes a wine cave, skate park, and a bistro.
It has 14 bathrooms and 15 bedrooms. It has since been listed for £40million, a 13 per cent drop, but seems to be off the market.
JERRY SEINFELD: Starting price £13.6million reduced to £11million

This ranch-style home measures 12,300 square feet and is situated on 27 acres. It has 11 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms. There are also two half bathrooms.

A ritzy ski retreat in Telluride in Colorado — where Hollywood comes to enjoy the snow — the 11-bedroom home of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, 67, is on the market for £11million, a 19 per cent discount.
It was initially put on in 2011 for £13.6million. There were no takers at that price at that time but, possibly encouraged by actor Tom Cruise listing — and selling — his house nearby at the asking price of £29million last year, Seinfeld and wife Jessica are trying again, at a discount.
The home has 27 acres of land and a double height ‘Great Room’ with breathtaking mountain views.
MICHELLE PFEIFFER – Starting price £21.5million reduced to £16million

Michelle Pfeiffer has quietly sold her Silicon Valley property after almost two years of being on the market

Actor Michael Douglas, 77, and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones, 52, put their New York apartment on the market for £16million last summer.
That price has since dropped to £14.5million, a 9 per cent reduction. This four-bedroom apartment in New York has unobstructed views over Central Park, a wood-panelled Library and staff quarters.
A huge Westchester County riverfront property was purchased by the couple. They now split their time equally between this and the large mountaintop retreat in Mallorca which Douglas finally sold to his ex-wife Diandra.
DONALD TRUMP – Starting price £20.7million reduced to £12.5million

Donald Trump, after trying unsuccessfully to sell his Caribbean estate, has made it a half price hideaway.

Former US President Donald Trump (L) and US First Lady Melania Trump
Donald Trump (75), former President of the United States, purchased this large spread in St Martin, French West Indies, in 2013.
The property includes two villas and ten bedrooms. It is situated on five acres.
A Jacuzzi is available in the master bathroom. The property has been on the market for four years. Trump owns a vast property portfolio and is based mainly at Mar-a-Lago, Palm Beach, Florida.
The price started at £20.7million and has now fallen to £12.5million, a drop of 40 per cent. It is also available to rent for £37,500 a week, including a concierge, chef, laundress and gardeners.
PS: PIERCE BROSNAN is not eligible for any discounts

Pierce Brosnan took his Malibu property worth $100 million off the marketplace

Pierce Brosnan is a 68-year-old actor who spent ten year building his Thai-themed Malibu home.

After he finally took the plunge, it spent more than a year on the market for £74million.
It was sold, but it was pulled back last summer. Brosnan, his family and their home are full-time residents of Hawaii.
