The group also launched Little Mix The Search on BBC Talent before Jesy was fired. This show aimed at competing with Simon Cowell in its search for the next great thing in music.

In August this year, it was revealed after just one series the show had been axed. Last year, the BBC aired the talent series in which the girls band searched for new talents to accompany them on their tour.

The Search has been canceled. The reason was that Jesy left the band, and Leigh Anne and Perrie had welcomed babies.

Kate Phillips, BBC Entertainment’s boss, confirmed that the announcement was true in a statement. She said: “We are not bringing back Little Mix next season. The girls all have babies right now, I think.

Little Mix’s 10 year history in the spotlight: The highs and lows

CONTROVERSIES

2017: Little Mix were criticised by their naked stage costumes at One Love, a benefit concert to support the Manchester bomb victim victims.

In 2017 Little Mix took to the stage to perform an emotional rendition of Wings at the One Love Manchester concert organised after the Manchester terrorist bombings.

Four-piece girls group, consisting of four members, wore unrevealing clothes. They wore black-and-white striped outfits with gold accents. This led to complaints from viewers back home that their stage costumes were not appropriate for family-friendly concerts.

Leigh-Anne showed off her bra in a small bra. Jesy Nelson wore a thigh-grazing leotard while Jade Thirlwall chose a larger bra. Perrie Edwards chose a conservative outfit, while letting her frilly look preserve her modesty.

They were not successful in addressing the criticisms of some home fans who took offense to the band’s revealing clothes. Some fans took to Twitter to criticize the band’s ‘inappropriate’ clothing.

One person said, “No offense but why are Little Mix naked? It’s a benefit concert.”

A second person thought it was awful that Little Mix was ‘half naked. One even went so far as to call them a disgrace.

2021: Jesy Nelson, an ex-member of Ex Little Mix is involved in bitter blackfishing after the release of her first single Boyz:

After her single Boyz With Nicki Minaj was released, Jesy Nelson (30), an ex-member of the band, was charged with blackfishing.

Jesy is seen in the music video heavily tanned, with her hair styled using wigs or braids.

The term blackfishing refers to a person who tries to portray themselves as having black heritage.

Jesy shared an Instagram statement in which she stated that she would be leaving the band in December 2020.

On Instagram, the singer commented on blackfishing allegations and credits her recent vacation in Antigua with her natural tan. “I want to assure you that this song and this video were not intended to offend anyone of color. This is what I was exposed to as a child, listening to this music.

These are videos I viewed and considered the best. For me personally, ’90s/2000 hip hop, R&B music was the best era of music. This is why I want to honor it. It is the music I love, so I wanted to honor that era.

Leaked messages between Leigh Anne and NoHun showed that Jesy also accused Jesy in the video of blackfishing.

Jesy took part in an Instagram Livestream with Boyz collaborator Nicki. Nicki accused Jesy of trying to destroy her solo career, and labeled the new mom and the other members of the group as ‘jealous and miserable clowns.

Jesy then claimed to have been ‘devastated. Leigh-Anne’ had “sparked racial animus” and an intense trolling toward her. Jesy told pals that she couldn’t believe she’d let’someone who she once considered family’ be so cruel.

2019: Simon Cowell must dismiss Little Mix feuding rumours

In 2019 Simon Cowell dismissed rumours of a feud with his former protégés Little Mix as they prepared to launch talent show The Search.

Sparks was in the air that year, when the talent show boss revealed that he had an idea for X Factor The Band – which would be released in 2020 – but Little Mix offered him a co-producer role on their BBC prime-time show 2021 The Search.

Simon, however, quashed all rumours while appearing on Heart Breakfast.

He stated that he thought the idea of their group was great. They owe me a lot. We gave them a great launchpad, but they still sold lots of records.

2016: Little Mix is scolded by a young fan after swearing in the song Hair.

In 2016 a Little Mix fan contacted the band after her parents banned her from singing her favourite song as it has a ‘rude word’ in it.

The song in question was a track on their Get Weird album titled ‘Hair’ which opens with the line ‘Cos he was just a d*** and I knew it.’

The band addressed them as ‘Dear Sir/Madam’ and said: “It’s an amazing song, but I wish I could properly sing it (my mom and dad won’t let me sing the lyrics as I am eight). While I know this can’t be altered, I just want to make a point.

“So that I could sing along, I changed the title to “he was just plank and i knew it” because they mean the exact same thing.

Little Mix then retweeted this letter, adding lots of smiley faces emojis.

ACHIEVEMENTS

2021: Little Mix are the first ever girl-band to achieve 100 consecutive weeks in the UK’s Top 10 Singles chart.

In July 2021 Little Mix made chart history as they became the first girl group to score 100 collective weeks in the Top 10 Official Singles Chart.

With their latest single Heartbreak Anthem (in collaboration with Galantis, David Guetta), the pop band hit the milestone.

Leigh-Anne, who was proud of her achievement, told Little Mix fans via Official Charts that she thought it was a great accomplishment. This is amazing. Without you, we couldn’t do it.

‘You never fail to blow us away – you’re just incredible and we wouldn’t be here without you. We are grateful.

The Top 10 has spent 100 more weeks than any other group of girls in UK charts history.

Girls Aloud came closest to the milestone with 61 weeks on the singles charts, followed by Motown’s iconic group The Supremes with 59 weeks.

Even the legendary British girl power band Spice Girls could not break the record, as they managed only 50 weeks on the Top 10 Singles Chart.

Little Mix have reached 18 of the UK’s top 10 singles with their latest release, which includes five number ones. Sweet Melody was at the top of the charts last January.

Little Mix wins two BRIT Awards

Little Mix was awarded ‘Best British Band’ by the 2021 BRIT Awards earlier this year, becoming the first ever female group to win that award.

Leigh Anne, accepting their award for British Group, stated: “We have been together 10 years, it’s been the most enjoyable years of our lives, we’ve made many memorable memories and we would like to thank you for your support, Jesy.

“It can be difficult being a UK female pop star, but we’ve witnessed the dominance, misogyny, lack of diversity and the bullying of women. But we are proud of our unity and use our voices to make a difference.

Jade stated that the award was not for her, but for Spice Girls, Sugababes and All Saints as well as Girls Aloud. She also said: “This award doesn’t only go to us. This is for all of our amazing girl bands. We love you.”

Little Mix was also awarded two BRIT Awards, one for Shout out to My Ex in 2017, and the other for Woman Like Me in 2019.

Little Mix had all the signs set up to be split

A band is left in “floods” of tears when they sing an emotional song

A sign was seen by fans that the announcement was imminent. The girls recently admitted to being in “floods” of tears when they perform their song Between Us during their Confetti Tour next year.

Perrie Edwards (Leigh-Anne Pinnock) and Jade Thirlwall shared how they felt about the song. They also admitted that performing it can be very emotional.

Perrie said, “It’s an song that we’ll never be able live to hear.”

As the other members agreed, she said: “Every night we’re just going to cry. It is such an adorable, beautiful song.

Their poignant lyrics hint at the possibility that their song’s deeply felt lyrics might trigger emotions, as they step onto the stage for what will be essentially their final tour.

Hints? However, news of the split may not comes as too much of a shock to some as the group previously dropped hints that they were set to go their separate ways in the future

Hints? Hints?

Instagram: The group also shared the statement on Instagram, writing: 'We wanted to let you all know that after the Confetti tour in April/May next year we are going to be taking a break from Little Mix'

Instagram: They also posted the following statement via Instagram.

The lyrics to Between Us are a goodbye song.

Between Us was dubbed “the ultimate friendship anthem” and looks back over their time together as a group for 10 years. However, the song could be described now as an ending anthem.

A line that includes this is: “When all the lights are out, the curtains will close, safe to say I’ll be there, and I’ll always stay.”

This line is a clear indication that the group will be ending, but the girls assure them their friendship will not end.

A third line suggests that they will always be together, despite their separation: “I swear that this is the one thing that will not go away.” “Cause we will always be loved. We are the only ones who can be trusted.

Rumours: As split rumours continued to swirl over the past few months - especially in the wake of the drama surrounding former member Jesy Nelson, Jade appeared to fan the flames as she opened up on the idea of the girls doing solo projects (pictured in 2019)

Rumours. Split rumours continued swirling over the past months, particularly in light of drama surrounding Jesyn Nelson. Jade opened up about her thoughts on Jade doing the girls solo projects (pictured 2019)

Jade says that having the freedom to pursue individual interests is really lovely.

There were rumours about a split over the months. This was especially evident after Jesy Nelson’s drama. Jade opened up to the possibility that the girls might do solo projects.

In an interview with Gay Times Magazine, the singer told how the opportunity to do things individually was ‘really love’ and that the girls doing their own thing was ‘beautiful to see’.

She said: ‘Oh, this is really lovely actually’ because as an individual you’re then getting the opportunity to show the public a bit more about yourself and what you’re actually passionate about.

She admitted that she was still scared of the thought of working for themselves after 10 years of constant group work.

Jade stated that Jade, Jade, and their trio had managed to achieve a ‘balanced’ work environment. The trio will continue to champion each other’s successes but know that Little Mix is always there to help them.

Something to say?  Elsewhere, Perrie also touched on the trio's solo projects and once again discussed their unbreakable bond, once again hinting that the end was near

What do you have to say?  Perrie spoke about the trio’s solo albums and again mentioned their strong bond. This was another hint that the end was coming.

Perrie affirms their love as they discuss Little Mix “venturing out separately”

Perrie discussed the trio’s solo albums and again touched on their bond. Perrie once more suggested the end was coming.

Capital Radio interviewed the mother-to-be about the split rumours and reassured Little Mix fans that they will continue to be a team in the future.

She added, “I believe that Little Mix does not matter whether or not we go out alone, Little Mix will always be there, as Jade stated.”

‘We’ll always stick together, we’ll always tour, we’ll always do things together as a group, because, Little Mix is just, it’s fire.’

Breaking free? In one image of the group - including Jesy - posing at the 2017 Jingle Bell Ball, Judi notes that the group were 'striving for their own individuality', with Jesy rocking pink hair, while they failed to make physical contact while posing

Are you ready to break free? Judi points out that they were “striving to their own individuality” in one photo of Jesy and the rest of the group at 2017 Jingle Bell Ball. Jesy was wearing pink hair while Judi did not make any physical contact.

A body language expert suggests that something wasn’t quite right for the group over many years

Judi James, a body language expert, revealed that Little Mix had taken a short break following the announcement. She told The Sun, “The wonder of Little Mix was less about splittings than it is about how they managed as a quartet to last as long.”

Judi recollected moments from their 10-year career that showed the desire for individuality. Another moment suggested the group was in crisis mode.

Judi points out that they were all’striving to their individuality’ in one photo of Jesy and the rest of the group at 2017 Jingle Bell Ball. Jesy was wearing pink hair while Judi did not make any physical contact.

Competition? while it may be seen as innocent posing, Judi reckoned it was a sign of the girls heading in different directs as they, in particularly Perrie and Jesy were 'competing for attention'

Competition? While it could be viewed as innocent pose, Judi believed it was evidence of girls moving in different directions, as Perrie, Jesy, and others were competing for attention.

She penned: ‘There are also now signs of an active avoidance of touch as though the girls are growing up and no longer keen to just be seen as part of a ‘peas in a pod’ style team.’

Another photo from the 2019 Brits red-carpet shows the quartet in glamorous looks while posing for the cameras.

Judi thought it might be innocent pose, but it was actually a sign that the girls were heading in different directions, as Perrie and Jesy, in particular, were “competing for attention”.

Analysis: ‘This pose looks much more emotion-based as the girls seem lost in a meaningful discussion. Jesy is seated outright in this group, looking towards Perrie. However, the eye contact and conversation seems to be happening between the three of them.

Judi said that Judi had suggested to Judi that tensions between girls might have indicated that they were in “crisis mode”.

She explained their bodies by saying that this pose looked more emotional because the girls seemed lost in meaningful discussions. Jesy is sitting out in the group here, but she looks back towards Perrie and their conversation.

Leigh Anne and Jade took ‘passive postures’. She said that the body language of that group reflected the kind of discussion they were having at the start.

Taking a break: Little Mix - consisting of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock - have announced the group is taking a break after ‘ten amazing years’

Taking a break: Little Mix – consisting of Jade Thirlwall, Perrie Edwards, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock – have announced the group is taking a break after ‘ten amazing years’

We are grateful for the 10 years of amazing adventures and feel that it’s time to relax and take some time off so we can recharge our batteries and get back on track with other projects.

“We cannot thank you enough” for all your support and love since the very beginning. Your love and support are so much appreciated by all of us.

Little Mix said, “We’re not going to split up. Little Mix is here to stay.” The future holds more music, tours and performances. With you, we have shared so many wonderful memories and can’t wait until there are more.

“We are sister and we will forever have you and each other in our lives. Little Mix will always be there for you, so see you when Little Mix goes on tour. Jade and Leigh-Anne, Perrie.

Little Mix has also shared a video collection of their favorite moments throughout the years.

Little Mix’s sudden decision to end their lives was met with shock and sadness by its fans.

Fear not: We are not splitting up - Little Mix are here to stay. We have plans for more music, tours and performances in the future. We've made so many incredible memories with you all, and we can't wait to make so many more'

Fear not: We are not splitting up – Little Mix are here to stay. In the future, we have more tours, music and performances. It’s been an incredible experience sharing these memories, and we look forward to making many more.

One person wrote, “STOP I’M CRYING”, while the other said: “Crying and sliding down a wall right at this moment.” I love you ladies so much you warm my hearts!’

Another reacted by saying, “I’m crying!” The Little Mix will be there forever,’ one person replied. Another added: “So sad.” This is not the type of break I want.

Many others expressed fear that the band wouldn’t reunite as One Direction split in 2016, to follow their solo career.

Little Mix continued their defiance of split rumours throughout last month.

Capital Breakfast was a discussion with the band about their biggest hits albums and to promise to continue making music for as long as possible ‘like The Rolling Stones.

The chat came after Jesy Nelson left the group last December, citing a decline in her mental health.
