James Bond producers claim that Idris Elba has been ‘part the conversation’ about becoming the next 007, as the search continues for Daniel Craig’s replacement










Since Daniel Craig (53), has retired, he has been a favorite to assume the role as James Bond. 

And it appears Idris Elba is still in the running for 007 as executive producer Barbara Broccoli, 61, said on Friday that the actor, 49, is ‘part of the conversation’ to play the role.

However, she did say that she would not ‘think’ or talk about anyone else until “No Time to Die” has ended and Daniel is able to reap the rewards.

Barbara spoke to Deadline and said that she knows Idris well, is close friends with him, as well as a phenomenal actor. 

It’s part of the conversation. However, when someone is in the chair, it can be difficult to continue the conversation. 

‘I think we have decided that until No Time to Die has had its run and Daniel has been able to – well, we’ve all been able to savour, reap the benefits of Daniel’s wonderful tenure, we’re not gonna think about, or talk about anybody else.’

Although Luther was popularly expected to play the spy role, the Luther star stated last year that he had not been offered the part. 

The Sun reported that insiders are saying he will be taking on the mantle of the Bond baddie instead. 

Sources said that Idris had spoken with the studio in informal discussions and was told there’s a part for him in Bond 2, if he so desires.

“He will not be the title character but they recognize the pull and respect that he commands and want to collaborate with him to create a new character for the next installment.

It is still early in the conversation, but so far it appears like the villain role.
