Illinois woman sentenced to 10 year imprisonment for scalding her boyfriend on the couch while she slept. She also posted the incident on Snapchat.
Alexis Sykes (23 years old) from Roselle described how her boyfriend’s skin had fallen off of his burnt arms and added that he begged for her to drive him to the hospital. She hid her car keys.
‘I kinda feel bad now because he got 2 & 3rd degree Burns from face to waist & they rushin him to burn center but oh well, bi***’ officials said Sykes, of Roselle, posted on the social media platform after the attack on January 2.
Police have not yet identified the victim. He eventually located the keys to his car and took it to hospital.
Sykes fled to Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, where she was arrested and charged by police on January 19, DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin said Tuesday.
On Monday, Sykes was sentenced to 10 years in jail after pleading guilty to one count of aggravated battery by caustic substance as part of a plea deal.
Sykes ran for two more weeks from Illinois following the attack until she was finally located in Mississippi and detained on January 19. She has been in DuPage County Jail custody since.
Sykes captioned Sykes’ Snapchat snap on the attack by shrugging shoulders and using kiss emoticons.
‘[He] still cried & beg me to drive him to the hospital,’ she wrote.
He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center Burn Unit where he spent the next two weeks in recovery.
He was reportedly a candidate for skin grafts.

Sykes faced two charges of battery with caustic substance, and one count of domestic battery.
Berlin made the following statement in a statement to WMAQ: “The cruelty shown by Ms. Sykes when she didused her sleeping partner with a pot boiling water was extremely disturbing.”
He said, “Considering her total disregard of the pain and suffering that her victim suffered, it is obvious she’s most certainly earned each year of her ten years sentence.”
Since her arrest, she has been in DuPage County Jail.
Before she can be eligible for parole, she must serve at least 8-and-a half years.
