I’m A Celebrity nearly fell apart on Thursday night, after security guards stepped in to confront an intruder a few metres from the set.
Despite the programme’s complex six-tier security system, comprising of bulletproof detection robots, an unarmed trespasser was able to find their way into the grounds of Gwrych Castle.
The guards were alert and managed to find the troublemaker. Without their intervention, ITV could have forced the show off the air.

“It was close”: The security team that fought an intruder just metres away from I’m a Celebrity almost put the celebrity in danger on Thursday
Although he did not meet the hosts Ant and Dec or the stars, the man was close to the castle walls. This put the bosses at the fan-favourite program on alert.
According to an ITV source, The Sun was told by a Sun reporter that it was close to a disaster. However, the security personnel quickly realized there was an issue with various items of kit and they were able to remove him from the site.
They said that the incident was a “real headache” for security personnel and crew, and that they hope it is the last.

Almost disastrous: Even though the unarmed trespasser did not come into contact with the celebrities or hosts Ant and Dec, he was within touching distance of the castle walls
A spokesperson for ITV confirmed that the intruder had been caught and was taken from the scene with immediate effect.
“The safety of our stars and the crew behind them remains our main concern.”
MailOnline reached out ITV representatives to request comment.

The set was created by Emma Louise (39) and Andrew (36) who were collecting their caravan in Abergele’s Gwrych Castle when they decided they would see if the two could get on to it.

The almost disastrous turn of events on Thursday comes as a ‘gutted’ Richard Madeley reassured Ant and Dec he was ‘fit as a fiddle’ and has been given a ‘clean bill of health’ in his first interview after leaving the I’m A Celebrity camp during Friday night’s episode.
Pre-recorded, the 65-year old broadcaster told Geordie fans that Covid would have kept him in the game if it wasn’t for his contribution. ITV, however, was insistent that he should be admitted to hospital.
Richard became ill Thursday morning after taking part in a hard trial. The show is now without Richard.
