According to reports, I’m A Celebrity’s bosses fear losing more stars after Richard Madeley’s resignation on Thursday. 

According to some reports, the series was thrown into turmoil behind-the scenes after Naughty Boy, Frankie Bridge and Arlene Phillips had to be treated for urgent medical issues.  

This is after Richard (65), arguably the most important signing on the show, had to quit I’m A Celeb following being admitted in hospital. He was also unable to return to the castle as he broke the Covid-safe bubble.

The Sun now reports that Arlene (78) is taking painkillers as she’s in chronic pain. Naughty Boy (36) is experiencing mental difficulties due to his absence from his mom, who is suffering with dementia. 

Frankie, 32 years old, has been diagnosed with a skin condition and required medical attention. 

A source said: ‘There are growing concerns for Arlene who is really struggling and in chronic pain, she is being helped around by the likes of David Ginola and Naughty Boy and is looking really frail.

The insider said Naughty Boy, real name Shahid Khan, is having counselling over his mother’s health.   

According to them, “He has been communicating with the show’s mental team led by Sandra Scott on a special iPad. It is the longest time he has been without his mother since she was diagnosed so they want to be sure that he is not going quiet.”

Frankie is also a concern for producers. He was reportedly given an ointment in order to heal a rash. Doctors remain unsure as to what exactly caused the rash. 

Back on track: It comes after Arlene and Naughty Boy threatened to leave the competition earlier thsis week, with the music producer remarking: 'My time here is done!'

The source said ITV simply ‘can’t afford to loose any names-  especially after Richard left the camp just four days after the show started.

After a difficult time in breakout camp The Clink, Arlene and Naughty Boy both expressed their desire for Gwyrch Castle to be left.  

Following the Treacherous Traps trial the music producer made it clear that he wanted to leave.

After a difficult trial with Snoochie Shy, Naughty Boy was prepared to go. 

Having second thoughts: Arlene said: 'I feel exactly the same. For me, I was hoping I was going to come out here strong and proud, but it hasn't started in the right way'

Arlene agreed with me. It was my hope that I would emerge strong and proud. But it didn’t start in the right direction. 

His fellow campmates heard him say: “I think that my time here has ended.” It was a feeling I felt earlier. I thought about my mum, and it made me feel better.

‘I don’t think after knowing what the Main Camp probably knew what they were putting me through knowing I did the challenge earlier – I don’t know if I could ever join that camp.’ 

Naughty Boy’s fellow campers were quick to reassure him but he continued his threats quit altogether and was joined by Arlene – even after the news that they were to join the Main Camp.  

Arlene added that the feeling is exactly the same. My hope was that I’d emerge strong and proud. But it didn’t start in the right direction.

“I consider it unacceptable. I realize that it is impossible to go on. My mind won’t change one night.

After entering Main Camp, however, the couple changed their minds and filmed scenes that were broadcast on Wednesday.

Richard is the one who causes the crisis forced to leave the show after being rushed to hospital with an unknown medical condition.

In a major blow to the show as one of their top signings, the broadcaster, who was paid an estimated £200,000 to star in this year’s competition, was taken ill hours after participating in a gruelling trial and complaining about the castle’s freezing temperatures. 

In a statement Richard, who was believed to be treated at Glan Clwyd Hospital in Rhyl, confirmed he had to quit the series after breaking the show’s ‘Covid bubble’.

Chloe Richard’s 34-year-old daughter, Chloe, said that her father was ‘livid’ that he cannot go back to the I’m A Celebrity Camp after his shock hospital run. 

He said in a statement: ‘Hello all! Richard here – firstly just to say that I’m absolutely FINE. In the wee hours of the AM, I began to feel unwell and was taken to hospital. 

The Covid bubble was broken when I left the camp. I now have to leave the castle, and all of the incredible celebs in the camp.

“Obviously, it’s hard to say goodbye so fast but my number one priority is safety and well-being of the campmates. I’m incredibly excited to watch their journey continue…even more so at the prospect of being somewhere a little warmer than Gwrych Castle…

‘Thank you to everyone who supported me on my brief but completely unforgettable adventure – I’ve made some great friends and honestly had the time of my life. 

A spokesperson from I’m A Celebrity stated that Richard was forced to quit the show because he’s no longer inside the bubble celebrity enter when they enter the castle. 

“He was a brilliant campmate, and we are grateful that he is a part of this series.”
