British skiers were relieved when France opened its borders for British visitors.

Britons choose the French Alps as their number one ski destination. It’s no surprise that many Britons feel the time is right to hit the slopes again and take in the beauty of the mountains.

The French Alps’ smaller resort of Les Gets is a popular choice for British second-home buyers and holidaymakers. The resort is located just an hour from Geneva Airport, making it a great destination for British snowboarders and skiers who want easy access to the Alps.

It’s possible to leave work at 5pm Friday night and still be in resort the next day. People will be tempted to buy a property because they have easy access.

A new development of just three chalets being built in Les Gets features the kind of homes many skiers would love, but the price tags starting at more than £1.5million will be beyond the reach of many.

Prices reflect the high demand for vacation homes in Les Gets due to its accessibility, popularity and low supply.

To own a property in Les Gets you’ll need to be able to pay a large sum of money. However, the developers of the development want to emphasize that they are priced fairly for the local real estate market.

The four-bedroom chalets spanning across three levels are available via skiingproperty.com from €1,848,000 euros, the equivalent of £1,536,762. It is rare to find a whole chalet in the area for less than €2million, the equivalent of £1,670,890.

If you’re happy with an apartment over a chalet, however, it is possible to purchase in Les Gets for a smaller amount. As we highlight below, good quality apartments can be bought for around the £300,000 mark.

You can find the chalets on Route des Chavannes. It is a 2-minute drive to the Chavannes main ski lifts. However, skiers can also take the Gentian slope down to Gibannaz and walk only 300m to the chalets.

Each property is sold freehold. If the new owner wants to lease them out they can do so according to their own agreements once they have purchased.

Newly built chalets feature four bedrooms and three bathrooms, as well as 314 sqm of living space.

These rooms span three floors with an ensuite bathroom in each of the upper bedrooms and one shared bathroom in the lower bedrooms. You can also enjoy a balcony with a view of the mountains from your top-floor bedroom.

Les Gets, a popular summer destination as well as winter resort is located just one hour from Geneva Airport. This makes it a very attractive option for families. As people come to the mountains for fresh air, the last two summers saw record-breaking numbers of tourists.

Alexis Bongard from Les Gets, the director of their tourist office, stated that they are pleased that France has lifted all restrictions on entry that had so adversely affected Les Gets and created so much anxiety for British tourists who were heading to this area.

We are ready and open to receive British skiers/snowboarders back on our slopes during the remainder of winter. Without you, it was very odd.
