Iran has claimed that the UK is ready to pay a £400million debt which could free Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe.

Ali Bagheri Kani, Tehran’s deputy foreign Minister, said that the two countries are working together to find a way of paying.

This development occurred as Richard Ratcliffe (british-Iranian) began his third week on hunger strike.

Mr Bagheri Kani stated that while the main issues of paying debt are settled and the amount is set, the process and method for payment has not been fully resolved.

According to her family, Iranian officials told Mrs Zaghari Ratcliffe that she was being held for spying because of the debt. This is part of an arms trade dispute from 1971.

The reports were not received by the UK ministers, but Ratcliffe said to Daily Mail that there was hope because of the fact that movement has been observed. For a long time, it has been felt that Iran wants to end the conflict. The Brits are less certain.

In an effort to stop the return to jail of his wife (pictured), he has been on hunger strike in front of the Foreign Office.

The development came as the British-Iranian's husband, Richard Ratcliffe, begins his third week of a hunger strike today
