A 25 year-old Iraqi male was sentenced to life imprisonment in Germany for stabbing and torturing his girlfriend.

The man was an Iraqi national who stabbed his Iranian girlfriend to death with a long, 6-inch (15cm) knife.

Zyad, 25-year-old defendant was being held in Germany on charges of murdering Fatemeh B. (28 year old girlfriend) with a knife.

After a 12-year initial sentence for manslaughter, which was too mild by Germany’s Federal Court of Justice(BGH), he received the life sentence in a retrial on the case.

Zyad s. will be only eligible After 15 years, parole.

Fatemeh B., a 28 year old Iranian woman living in Germany, was slaughtered with a meat knife by her boyfriend Zyad S. in 2019.

The defendant, who has been named only as Zyad S., 25, was on trial in Germany over the death of his girlfriend Fatemah B., 28, who he stabbed with a meat knife on February 16, 2019. He received the life sentence on December 20 at a retrial of the case, after an initial 12-year sentence for manslaughter was deemed too lenient by prosecutors.

Zyad S. (25 years old) was the defendant in the case against Fatemah B. (28) who he killed when he used a knife to stab her with on February 16th 2019. The prosecutors decided to retry the case and sentence him to life on December 20, after he was sentenced for 12 years manslaughter.

A court was told that Fatemeh (who had been dating Zyad three months before she died) had displayed controlling behavior and refused the boyfriend’s proposal to get married. 

‘[The victim]The judge said that Fatemeh loved freedom and was eager to experience it, while telling Fatemeh during sentencing that Fatemeh had been’massively controlled. 

Zyad realized that his girlfriend wouldn’t accept his proposal and decided to murder her.  

Zyad lured Fatemeh in his car on February 16th 2019, where he concealed a 15 cm long meat knife. 

Fatemeh drove him into the woods and on to a dirt track where he found her body. 

The victim was discovered with severe lacerations and 34 knife wounds to her neck. 

Fatemeh was stabbed by the defendant, but he pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He claimed that he did it out of jealousy after being provoked by Fatemeh.  

Kheirollah and Sara Fatemeh were both dismayed earlier this year by Zyad’s manslaughter conviction.

‘[The victim]”I loved freedom and would try it,” said the judge to Fatemeh during sentencing.

Fatemeh, a 2019 funeral attended by her pastor, spoke about a cheerful young Iranian lady who came to Germany from Iran three years before without her family. 

Pastor: “Your friends here are like your family.” 

Fatemeh had one idea when she was learning German: To get a job.

The prosecutors wanted life imprisonment for murder at the start of the trial. However, the defense pleaded guilty to manslaughter, and asked for an eight year sentence. 

Luebeck Regional Court convicted the accused for manslaughter, instead of murder. He was sentenced to twelve years imprisonment. They were able to show that they had thought of the consequences and not just insinuating.

This week, the decision was reversed in favor of a life sentence with parole possible after fifteen years.
