Just two years ago, she left Riccione where her school was located, near San Marino on Italy’s coast, to meet Volanti.
Mattiuzzo, who had just graduated from high school at 16 years old, moved to Milan in order to be near family and pursue his passion for figure skating.
Mattiuzzo, who was living in Milan at the time, began to perform with the synchronised figure skating team, the “Hot Shivers”, and quickly rose up as a leader in that group.
Hot Shivers released a statement to express their sadness at Mattiuzzo’s death.
“We are happy to have fond memories of her. She was an amazing girl, who enjoyed being with her friends and maintained a close relationship. But she also worked hard and was very disciplined.
“We cannot believe it, we are devastate.”

Italian police are reconstructing the accident on Sottomontana, which has been the scene of many other accidents.
It is thought that the couple crashed their Fiat 500 when they crossed into the other lane, colliding with the guardrail.
They were then hit by two cars in oncoming traffic – a Volkswagen Golf driven by a 19-year-old man from San Marino, and a BMW driven by another Sammarinese.
Emergency services found the young couple dead on the spot. They removed them from their Fiat and rushed them to the hospital.
Minor injuries were sustained by the VW Golf driver, who was also transported to the hospital. However, the BMW driver was not hurt and was able to walk away from the accident unharmed.
